Although I have only tutored informally at my high school, I love explaining concepts and helping others understand difficult ideas. I have a love for learning and I am not easily frustrated. I feel that, when teaching, I am patient and understanding of a student’s current knowledge but still try to push the student to step out of his or her comfort zone. algebra 1 |
I have taken classes in Algebra I and know the material well. I have studied expressions, systems of equations, functions, real numbers, inequalities, exponents, polynomials, radical and rational expressions. I followed up my class in Algebra I with work in Geometry in middle school. In high school, I took classes in Algebra II, Precalculus, Calculus I and II, Linear Algebra, Differential Equations, and Multivariate Calculus. Furthermore, in high school I took many classes, both math and science, which relied heavily on the knowledge learned in Algebra I. I love helping others and this is a subject I understand well. |
algebra 2 |
I completed a course in Algebra II in my freshman year of high school and know the material well. I have studied linear equations, inequalities, graphs, matrices, polynomials and radical expressions, quadratic equations, functions, exponential and logarithmic expressions, sequences and series, probability and trigonometry. I followed up my course in Algebra II with work in other math and science classes with drew heavily from knowledge learned in Algebra II and have therefore kept up with the material. I love teaching and explaining concepts and this is a subject I grasp well. |
geometry |
I completed a course in Geometry in middle school and know the material well. I used the knowledge gained in my Geometry class throughout high school in both science and math classes. I have kept up with the material well and am confident in my grasp of the subject. |
physics |
I have completed courses in General Physics, calculus-based Mechanics, calculus-based Electricity and Magnetism, Thermal Physics, Waves and Optics (TWO), Modern Physics, Astronomy, and Theoretical Physics. |
SAT math |
I received a 770 on the SAT Math section last June and an 800 on the Math Level II subject test last May. I know the material on the SAT Math section well and have used the concepts covered in the test in many classes in both science and math. I have kept up with the test's material and love explaining its concepts. |
ACT Math |
In the three times I took the ACT, I received scores of 34, 35, and 36 on the math section. My highest composite score on the test is a 35. I know the math section of the test well and would love to help others succeed. I will be attending the California Institute of Technology in the fall. |
differential equations |
I have completed a course in Elementary Differential Equations at the Oklahoma School of Science and Mathematics. The topics covered in the course included first-order differential equations, linearity, linear equations of higher order, matrix exponentials, eigenanalysis, Laplace transforms, linear and non-linear systems, fixed point analysis, equilibrium solutions, and Fourier transforms. |
