My name is Alexander M.; I am PhD in Applied Mathematics, I have more than twenty years of teaching experience at different Colleges and Universities. I hope I will be your Math teacher. Let me try to explain how I view such a subject as Mathematics and how I plan to teach Math. I am a little bit different than a normal Math teacher. I was unlucky – I was born in the Soviet Union. My mother was a professional piano player. She said that the only profession in the World is a piano playing….

algebra 1 | For the last eight (8) years I had more than hundred students who needed Algebra assistance. Algebra is a part of all Mathematical courses that are associated with different types of calculations. All of my students never had any computational problems associated with Algebra, Calculus, Differential Equations, Numerical Mathematics, Fourier Series, etc. All of them passed an Algebra exam with a high score. |

algebra 2 | For the last six (6) years I had about 11 students who needed ACT preparation. All of them had a very high score at their exams. Algebra was a significant part of my Ph.D dissertation and I feel very comfortable with the subject. |

calculus | For the last eight (8) years I had more than 150 students who needed Calculus and/or Discrete Math preparations. All of them had a very high score at their exams. Calculus (more precisely, Differential/Integral equations) was a significant part of my Ph.D dissertation and I feel very comfortable with those subjects. |

prealgebra | |

precalculus | For the last almost twenty years I had more then 80 students who needed Precalculus/Calculus preparations. ALL of them had a very high score at their exams. Differential/Integral subjects were a significant part of my Ph.D dissertation and I feel very comfortable with those subjects. |

trigonometry | For the last eight (8) years I had a few students who needed Trigonometry preparation. Trigonometry is not an independent subject. It is a part of all Mathematical courses that are associated with different types of calculations. All of them never had any computational problems associated with Algebra, Calculus, Differential Equations, Numerical Mathematics, Fourier Series, etc. |

SAT math | For the last seven (7) years I had about 22 students who needed ACT preparation. All of them had a very high score at their exams. ACT is mainly part of the Algebra that was significant part of my Ph.D. dissertation. I feel very comfortable with the subject. |

piano | I am graduated from Gnesin Music Institute (equivalent to Moscow Conservatory) in 1970. My Diploma qualification is Music (piano) teacher. For the last ten years I worked with private students mainly though sometimes I was invited to Music Dept. of Lorain County Community College (LCCC). |

Russian | Russian is my native Language. I am very familiar with Russian Literature, History of Music (Part of my Music Education). |

discrete math | I taught Discrete Math course only in the USA at LCC College for the last four years each semester. I do not know why students consider this course as an extremely difficult. Fortunately, for the last two years I did find simplified approach to this course (through analogies)and students feel now much more comfortable though majority of them still are scared to take the course. For about last eight semesters my group sizes were not exceeded seven(!) students. |

differential equations | I taught Differential Equations in Moscow State University (precise title was "Differential & Integral Equations of Mathematical Physics") for about two years. I also taught Dif. Equations in LCCC about two semesters. Average group size was about 12-16 students. In both countries students considered this course as a "difficult" one. |

college counseling | I have a Ph.D degree in applied Mathematics. I worked more then 20 year at Colleges and Universities teaching Mathematics. I use mainly common sense in my teaching. It does help me - one of my published papers is being used in the US Military Research for more than twenty years. The article was based on a very simple principle “a Future is continuation of the Past if connection between them is not broken” that allowed one to replace implicit numerical scheme with explicit one. Of course, my duties in Colleges/Universities required from me preparation of the course content, tests, quiz, home/class works, etc. Sometimes I participated in admission campaign that significantly improved my ability to communicate with (potential) students. |

finite math | I taught Finite Math (specifically, Numerical Mathematics) at the Moscow University a few years. After that I never taught Numerical Math again but I extensively used this approach for many of my research subjects. I believe, I advanced numerical math in my research, especially when I worked in General Electric Co. |
