I fully understand the need for tutoring. I was having trouble with algebra and required tutoring in it for a few weeks. I raised my grade from a D to an A in 10 weeks. I graduated in the top 10% of my high school class and am a Regents Scholarship winner. I hold three undergraduate degrees and one graduate degree. They span the disciplines of engineering, physical science and technology. I have completed college diplomas in accounting and business administration. I won a $1000 scholars…

algebra 1 | I have tutored 2 middle school children and undergraduates. I have passed Algebra I and II in tests on wyzant.com with a 90% score without any reference to online or personal resources. I have easily passed all the math tests on wyzant.com through precalculus. I have completed 4 years of high school math and 1/2 year of high school math through precalculus, and 6 semesters of college mathematics (engineering calculus, abstract algebra, linear algebra, differential equations). |

algebra 2 | As an honors Trig student, and as an honors pre-calculus student, I learned additional transcendental functions and how to plot them. I became expert in imaginary numbers and in how they're graphed, for example. This led me to pursuing an electrical technology degree. I credit my teacher for making Calculus I very easy in college. And math goes much further than that. Calculus, however, builds from pre-calculus. This builds from algebra, geometry, and trigonometry, in order of importance. The fact that you are enrolled in geometry is great. Geometry introduces the concept of the third dimension so critical in calculus and in all the sciences today. If you apply yourself and work faithfully on mastering the material taught you will succeed. Different careers will emphasize different areas in math. I am here to help you on mastering skills in algebra and geometry. |

chemistry | I completed high school chemistry and the end-of-grade NY State Regents exam with 'A' grades, a B.S. in Chemistry, graduate courses in catalysis, and 5 years of teaching undergraduate chemistry problem solving and laboratory sessions. I have 14 years of professional experience applying the chemical principles of spectroscopy, electrochemistry, solutions, titrations, separations and gas laws to solve problems and develop products. I trained 2 lab technicians for 6 years in the calculations of gas, solution and liquid concentrations required for the testing of products. |

geometry | I have completed high school geometry (basic and analytical geometry) with 'A' grades. As an engineer I often create xy-geometry in CAD or use planes to sketch geometries on. From there, one can rotate geometry to create solids and surfaces in 3D. Knowledge of geometry is critical in chemistry for determining: packing of crystalline substances; bond geometry of molecules; views of 2D and 3D molecules, reaction products and their percent yields. I am qualified to tutor geometry because I can reinforce its usefulness in many disciplines and show how knowledge of algebra and simple trigonometry make understanding geometry easier. |

precalculus | My knowledge of pre-calculus is very strong, as I've had to apply it in college chemistry, chemical engineering unit operations, chemical engineering transport phenomena, solving electrical networks, and as a practicing industrial chemist. I only reviewed the laws of sines and cosines to receive an A on Wyzant's pre-calculus test, and reviewed nothing else to easily pass Wyzant's other four math tests forming the foundation of pre-calculus. I especially enjoy solving trig and exponent-related problems, simplifying complex fractions, working with matrices, analytical geometry, complex numbers, graphing trig functions and deriving trig identities and and equations in analytical geometry. |

writing | Frankly, I am a very good writer. I continuously score 100% on all the verbal tests in WyzAnt, scored a 3.5 in college writing, and wrote a 120-page Master's project. I can improve your supportive skills in grammar and reading comprehension. Key to better writing is reading a variety of materials, fields and authors - not necessarily obtuse literature. |

English | I am qualified because I self-tutored in English. A combination of drills, increased reading and integrating my language skills from a near-mastery of 3 years of high school Latin raised me from C and B or from B and A throughout the remainder of high school. My progress continued with a 3.6 in college English and completion of a 120-page Master's project. My GRE Verbal exceeded my GRE Math score, even though my 4 degrees and past tutoring are in technical studies. |
