MichaelI have a bachelor's degree in political economy and history that I earned at the College of William and Mary. I was awarded with a Presidential Fellowship, and I was able to work in Rome at a think tank. I have a strong academic background in a wide array of topics, but my specialties are international affairs, world history, government, and politics. When I work with students, I am patient, and I create an environment that help students feel comfortable to be open and honest about what they know and what they don't. Not everyone can be good at everything, but everyone can get better, and I can provide assistance with that. There many different ways of teaching, and I'm good at adjusting my approach to provide a way that works for the student I'm working with. I also utilize examples, practical applications, and analogies to help students visualize ideas and retain them. In addition to the subjects I tutor, I can also help students prepare for the GRE, SAT, PSAT, ACT, and other standardized exams. I can share test taking strategies that work for me, patterns in these tests that can be identified, and suggestions for writing quick and meaningful essays. I also can help students reduce test anxiety.

LoratoI received a BA in Honors Literature/Writing from UC - San Diego. While an undergrad at UCSD, I tutored high school students and other college students, and I also taught writing workshops. I was very involved with tutoring English as a Second Language, also. I've found ways to keep my teaching upbeat and interesting in order to best help my students become engaged and involved in their learning, and to increase both their knowledge and their confidence. I can teach you or your student Reading, High School English, Writing, College English, Essay Editing, Comparative Literature, Phonics, Literature, English Grammar and Syntax, College Essays, American History, European History, World History, Public Speaking, or English. For those taking advanced classes, I'm an experienced tutor for AP English Literature and Composition, AP Language and Composition, AP United States History, AP European History, AP US Government and Politics, and AP World History. I have a solid background in helping students to prepare to take standardized tests, including the CAHSEE English, SAT Subject Tests, and GRE Verbal Reasoning and Analytical Writing. In my free time, I try and get outdoors and enjoy nature, and love to hike, run, and paint.

JackI attended Loyola Marymount University for my bachelor's degree in English literature. I also earned an archaeology minor. I had the opportunity to act as assistant curator to the campus Museum, where I presented lectures and tutored college students in historic preservation, architecture, art, and history. I finished my degree with honors, and then moved on to Southwestern Law School. I earned my juris doctor and recently took the bar exam in California. I can tutor students in American history through the college level, world history through the college level, government, politics, writing, English grammar and syntax, essay writing and editing, and other related subjects. I also can help students prepare for AP history exams, AP government exams, IB politics in history exams, and other standardized tests. Of these, my favorite subject to tutor is history, and in particular world history. In my free time, I prioritize fitness and staying active, so I love playing beach volleyball and basketball. I also enjoy playing golf, but I'm not good at it. I also like to watch films, read, cook, go on hikes, and look for new things to learn about and do.
