KatherineI am a graduate of Connecticut College, where I obtained a dual bachelor's degree in English and German. During my undergraduate education, I was awarded the German Consulate Book Prize for Excellence in German. After graduation, I was awarded a Fulbright Scholarship, and I spent a year in Dresden, Germany, teaching English at the middle school and high school levels. This unique experience helped me develop my strategy for language tutoring, which involves creating a fun, accepting, and exciting environment. This helps students feel free to speak aloud with confidence and develop their language skills. I have always been passionate about education and learning. I also served as a writing tutor at both Connecticut College and the U.S. Coast Guard Academy. As a tutor, I aim to create a stress-free environment in order to help students explore and develop their topic during every stage of the writing process. My diverse history in tutoring has given me valuable experience in working with students of all ages on many different subjects, ranging from elementary and middle school math to AP-level English and History. I am also able to assist with standardized test preparation, including the SSAT, SAT, and PSAT. When I'm not tutoring, I like to spend my spare time reading, hiking, taking in live comedy, and playing basketball.

KatharineI went to Bowdoin College and earned my bachelor's degree in biochemistry and Eastern European and Eurasian studies, graduating cum laude and with honors for my research, along with a department prize in Russian. My tutoring experience began in high school, where I helped peers learn science topics, and I continued to mentor college students throughout my undergraduate career. I've also taught sailing, and I was on the college sailing team. I can tutor students in a wide array of subjects including biology, chemistry, and physics. My favorite subjects to tutor are microbiology and biochemistry. I can also help students prepare for the SAT, private school admissions exams like the SSAT and ISEE, the PSAT, the MCAT, and others. I love helping my students because I believe every student can learn and experience success in science, and every student can improve their scores on standardized tests. I love learning, and I love the subjects I've chosen to tutor. I want to help students understand why the concepts they are learning are important and how these concepts are used in the real world. This help students appreciate what they are learning and get motivated to find success. When I have free time, I like to do crafts, read, and sail. I also cheer for Boston sports teams.

DominicI attended UT Austin for my bachelor's degree in math. I have six years of tutoring experience, I've worked with students from the high school level to non-traditional college students. I've also worked with students at all levels, including those who already excel in math and those who have learning disabilities. I believe my favorite topic to tutor is calculus because it applies in so many fields, but I enjoy helping students learn more foundational math topics as well, including geometry, algebra, statistics, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and others. When I work with students, I have a very laid-back style, but also help my students develop problem-solving and critical thinking skills, and I focus on helping students develop a solid understanding of each topic we study. I enjoy relating abstract concepts in math to real world applications, and I also have utilized math in my own research into string theory, physics, economics, astronomy, and others. I found that explaining why a math topic is important helps students feel more motivated to learn it. In addition to math topics, I can tutor students in physics and chemistry. I also can help students prepare for admissions exams like the SAT, SSAT, ISEE, HSPT, and others. Outside of education, I enjoy reading, chess, and music. I look forward to helping you reach your goals.
