KarenI graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Curriculum and Instruction with an emphasis in math from Texas A&M University. I am certified to teach elementary mathematics, encompassing grades 1 through 8; elementary self- contained, encompassing grades 1 through 8; and early childhood education, encompassing grades pre-kindergarten through kindergarten. I have been a teacher for 20 years and a private tutor for 8 years. In addition to teaching students in the United States, I have also taught in Asia. Teaching is an exciting profession that I am passionate about. Children's lives are changed by things they learn, and there is nothing better than seeing the moment when children understand something they didn't before. I enjoy being part of providing children with important knowledge, which will lead them to succeed in life. I tutor math subjects, and I also tutor reading, English, writing, and phonics. Additionally, I can help students study for the SSAT, ISEE, and STAAR tests. With math particularly, I focus on practical application so students can see how math is used outside of the classroom or tutoring environment and in their lives. This makes it much more personal to them. When I'm not teaching or tutoring, I enjoy sewing, crafting, cooking, and running.

KaraI attended the University of Nebraska to earn my bachelor's degree in biological science. I also earned an anthropology minor. As an undergraduate, I was able to serve as a TA in biology courses. Currently I'm working in a resource center at a prep academy, and this experience has shown me that I love to teach others. I really enjoy biology, and I want to help students understand it and get excited about it. I also enjoy tutoring students in math through pre-calculus, preparation for the ACT, and chemistry. When I have free time, I enjoy doing crafts like knitting, crocheting, sewing, and scrapbooking. I also enjoy decorating cakes, listening to music, and playing the saxophone.

JessicaI attended the University of Iowa where I completed a Bachelor of Arts in History, English Literature, and Russian Language Studies. I later attended the University of Texas at Austin where I earned a PhD in Modern European History. I've taught many different college History courses in large classrooms and lectures, and have also taught students one-to-one for private tutoring. Besides tutoring specific courses, I feel it's important for all students to develop critical thinking skills and strong writing skills, as those areas are important for nearly every career. I have experience living overseas and a passion for learning languages. I have lived in England, Russia, and Latvia, and I can speak Russian, Latvian, and Polish. I look forward to teaming up with you to work on your goals for Russian, Writing, Essay Editing, Literature, College Essays, American History, European History, GRE Verbal, AP United States History, GRE Analytical Writing, AP European History, English, Social Studies, Graduate Test Prep, High School Level American History, College Level American History, AP US History, High School English, College English, or Comparative Literature.
