JonathanAs a longstanding student of the College of Education at Seton Hall University, I have had the opportunity to complete both my Masters and Ph.D. programs and have also worked in the Educational Studies department as a Graduate Assistant. Having most recently been assigned to work in the Office of Field Placement, I have been part of an environment that puts the science of teaching at the forefront. The responsibility of handling the placement of interns and student teachers into the local schools and my own experiences as a substitute teacher allows me to view the complete spectrum of instruction from K-16. My experience as a teacher spans across a number of years and different settings. My formal training was in Secondary Education, with a concentration in History. My original plan was to play baseball for SHU. Hindered in this aspiration by an injury to my wrist, I focused on my academic potential rather than athletics and instead served as a manager for the SHU baseball team, aiding in both athletic and academic support. Â I have used this adversity to instill the lesson to students of varying ages that our greatest potential will be met when our greatest trials are overcome. My current role in the College of Education expands my ability to working with students who are studying for a degree in Elementary or Secondary Education, preparing them adequately for classroom management and successfully completing the Praxis II Exam. Additionally, my student teaching experience at West Orange High School in West Orange, NJ gifted me with the opportunity to work in a culturally diverse setting teaching US History II, Honors US II, and AP US History. My goal has not been to pass along rudimentary facts but to give my students practical use of history in everyday life. My experience in education and the opportunity I've had to watch the complete cycle of education from children just starting to foster their love of learning through their experiences in higher education as adults is my greatest asset as a potential tutor.

DavidI have a Bachelor of Science in Exercise Science from the University of Texas at Austin, and plan to continue with schooling at Texas State University to become a Physical Therapist. When I tutor, I keep the setting relaxed and low-keyed so the student feels secure asking questions or requesting something be explained in another manner in order for them to thoroughly grasp the material. I listen to any concerns the student has and address those concerns in a way that can make sense to the student. I always try and keep my students engaged in our sessions in order for them to maintain their motivation as they work towards their goals. I am capable of teaching a large variety of subjects to students of any age. I look forward to helping you with Algebra 1, ISEE-Lower Level, Middle School Math, ISEE-Middle Level, Anatomy, Physiology, STAAR, Graduate Test Prep, Essay Editing, English Grammar and Syntax, ISEE-Upper Level, College Essays, Psychology, Anatomy & Physiology, SAT, ACT, Middle School Science, PRAXIS, GRE Quantitative, College Application Essays, Nutrition, Physical Science, Pre-Algebra, or Spanish. When I have free time, I spend it outdoors as much as possible. I go hiking, rock climbing, camping, and I train for and compete in triathlons.

BrianI earned my undergraduate degree in liberal arts and sciences from St John's College. I am currently pursuing a graduate degree in high energy physics at the University of Pennsylvania. Throughout the course of my studies I have been given the opportunity to tutor other students in a variety of math and science courses. I currently offer tutoring services for algebra 1 & 2, calculus 1-3, differential equations, geometry, elementary math, pre-calculus, trigonometry, middle school math, applied mathematics, multivariable calculus, arithmetic, elementary math, econometrics, algebra 3/4, business, IB physics HL & SL, pre-algebra, AP physics 1 & 2, AP calculus AB & BC, and other math and science courses. I also enjoy helping students prepare for standardized exams such as the GRE, SAT, and PRAXIS. I love the challenge of higher level mathematics and the challenge inherit in finding a way to teach these subjects to those who find them challenging. Because of the nature of the subjects I tutor, I believe it is more important to teach students how to think about a specific topic or type of problem rather than simply teaching them how to solve individual problems. It is necessary to understand the general method if one is to succeed in this field.
