MariaI moved to the US from Russia in 2014. While in Russia, I worked with my private high school chemistry tutor at a gifted children's school. I served as her teaching assistant, developing organic chemistry presentations and teaching to the class. I graduated from Bunker Hill Community College with the intention of enrolling in an accelerated PharmD program at a top institution. I intend to study biotechnology in the future as well. As a Russian student, I have a strong foundation in mathematical material, such as trigonometry, calculus, and geometry. While enrolled at BHCC, I served my fellow students as a math tutor using my communication skills to explain the same concept in a variety of different ways. I am well-versed in physics, chemistry, biology, and other science subjects. Since all students learn differently, I believe it is important to identify the ideal approach in working with an individual student. One-on-one learning can be individualized to suit their learning style, skill level, and goals. I continue using innovative teaching materials, such as games, rhymes, and PowerPoint presentations to build skills and knowledge. In addition to science and math, I can also tutor students looking to learn or improve their fluency in Russian. In my free time, IÂ enjoy reading poetry and literature.

KarenI'm a patient and friendly tutor with over 20 years of experience, and I believe in helping students fully understand a subject to learn it effectively. I provide support to my students by helping them understand concepts through analogies and relationships. I like to tie concepts to things students know or are interested in to keep them engaged and having fun. I went to the University of California - Berkeley to earn my bachelor's degree in cognitive science, and I went on to Florida Atlantic University to earn my master's degree in biology. I've taught anatomy and physiology labs at Florida Atlantic University as well as through their summertime science institute. I also got a lab at the college level for math and reading development for elementary school students. My background in cognitive science makes me very familiar with the different learning styles students have. I understand that learning can be difficult sometimes, but I encourage my students to work through it for the inevitable rewards. Subjects I can tutor include biology, algebra, English, grammar, reading comprehension, literacy, geometry, statistics, writing, and preparation for exams like the GRE, GED, ACT, FCAT, SAT, SSAT, and others. When I have some free time, I like to dive, snorkel, sail, read, and play with my dogs.

JosefI fell in love with tutoring is a middle school student, assisting classmates in a number of different areas. I attended Harvard University to earn my bachelor's degree in psychology, and I love sharing what I know with others to help them succeed academically. I've been tutoring for over 10 years, but I have two years of formal tutoring and teaching experience since graduating. I enjoy working with students at all ages and levels of ability in a wide variety of subjects, but my specialty is writing. I've always enjoyed storytelling, and writing has been a great way for me to tell those stories. I also enjoy helping students prepare for standardized tests like the ACT, SAT, GED, and others. Subjects I can tutor include but are not limited to chemistry, calculus, algebra, biology, psychology, physics, philosophy, economics, business, trigonometry, quantum mechanics, string theory, Spanish, human development, biomechanics, and many more. I use number of different approaches into tutoring sessions to help students gain multiple perspectives on course material. I can lecture, mentor, facilitate, delegate, provide activities, and do whatever it takes to help students understand subjects and develop lifelong learning skills. Many of my students are able to surpass their own goals through my tutelage.
