My name is Timmy, and I have a wide array of experience that can help me tutor you towards success. I attended Manhattan College for my bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. I understand what students go through when they struggle with a topic, and I can provide insight into the techniques and strategies I used to become successful as a student. When I work with students, I initially figure out what they know, what their needs are, and where they need to get to. From there we can set up a plan to figure out how to help you reach your goals. I utilize a teaching style that is enthusiastic and charismatic, but also laid-back and supportive. When we work through problems, I'm not going to give you the answer. Instead I'm going to help you understand the steps you need to take, discussing each point along the way, so that you know how to solve problems on your own. I will also have you explain concepts back to me, which shows me your progress and lets us know what else we need to do for you to be successful. I will also identify your learning style, so that I can cater the tutoring approach to whatever work best to help you learn. In my free time, I enjoy snowboarding, ice hockey, sports, music, nutrition, softball, yoga, bodybuilding, reading, and I have many other interests as well.Education

I have a BA in Linguistics and Biological Anthropology from the University of California Los Angeles. While I was working on my degree, I tutored other undergrads in writing and research. I also tutored international students to help them gain confidence in their English conversational skills, to become more familiar with US culture, and to increase their ability to read and write in English. If you are looking for someone to tutor you in ESL/ELL, I'd be happy to help you along your journey as you learn English as a Second Language. I have experience tutoring Math, Algebra 1, Geometry, Pre-Algebra, Reading, Writing, Essay Editing, College Essays, and High School and College English. I'm also qualified to tutor test preparation, including CHSPE, PSAT Critical Reading, and GRE Verbal. Sometimes students simply need a little basic help, and I would be happy to work with you or your student on study skills and organization, which is often a challenge as students move from middle school to high school, or from high school to college, and the courses become more demanding. During my free time, I dedicate quite a bit of my time to fitness through working out and nutrition. I enjoy photography and attending theater productions.Education

I went to BYU to earn my undergraduate degree in nutritional science. I also earned a French language minor and studied in Paris. I'm now attending Columbia University for my master's degree in human nutrition. I'm looking forward to attending medical school next. My tutoring experience includes two years as a campus tutor at BYU. I was able to tutor students in nutrition, physics, anatomy and physiology, chemistry, and biology during this time. I also have experience tutoring students in the French language. I understand that everybody learns in their own unique way. As a tutor, I need to understand the way a student learns so that I can teach to that. I also believe that teaching and learning are not mutually exclusive. In fact, if a student can teach a topic, that means they have a good mastery of the topic. I'm from North Carolina originally, and I cheer for the NC State basketball and football teams. I played soccer and football myself as a high school student, and I'm always seeking out opportunities to play them informally. Other interests include traveling, golfing, and spending time with my wife and my family.Education
