LaughtonAs a tutor, I had to help my students develop the skills they need to become self-sufficient as learners. It's not sufficient for me to help a student understand a topic. Instead, I must help them develop critical thinking and problem-solving skills so that they can succeed on their own. This helps students have success in the future, and I make some competitive in our ever-changing world. I can tutor students in ecology, biology, life-sciences, epidemiology, microbiology, nursing, study skills and organization, MCAT test preparation, GRE preparation, REGENTS preparation, and other test prep. I appreciate each of my students for their unique capabilities and goals as well is their diverse backgrounds. I believe every student can achieve success given the proper resources and guidance. In my free time, I enjoy chess, soccer, golf, reading, and research.

KatrinaI went to Mount St. Mary University to earn my associate degree in nursing. I earned my license to nurse, and then headed to California State University - Long Beach to earn my bachelor's degree in nursing. I am really passionate about wellness, but I'm also quite cognizant of the ways that education has benefited me. I like to share what I know with students to help them learn new things and grow as people. I've had experience tutoring writing on campus, but I also have a strong background in the sciences thanks to my nursing studies and experience. I can tutor subjects like anatomy and physiology, biology, chemistry, writing, essays, nursing, life sciences, study skills and organization, elementary math, and others. In my free time, I like to bake, draw, do DIY projects, and lift weights and exercise.

DanielAs a board certified doctor in both plastic surgery and general surgery, it is fair to say that I am passionate about the field of science. However, I am also a student of history and philosophy. I am a member of the Civil War Round Table of Kansas City, the American History Enthusiasts, and numerous philosophy clubs. I love sharing the worlds that are waiting to be explored with the students I tutor, and I believe that my real world experience in such diverse fields makes me a valuable member a child's educational team. I currently tutor several subjects, including anatomy, biology, chemistry, microbiology, physiology, American and European history, biochemistry, philosophy, social studies, anatomy & physiology, and social sciences. As a practicing physician I had the opportunity to teach surgical residents and nursing students about patient care and operative techniques. Combined with my experience counseling patients and their families, I have built quite the toolbox of techniques for conveying complex subject matter in a way that is easy to understand. I prepare diligently for each of my tutoring sessions, and I take the time to make sure each student thoroughly understands the information they are studying before moving on to the next topic.
