MaraI earned my bachelor's degree in Music Performance from the University of North Texas, and went on to study for my master's degree at the University of Massachusetts in Amherst. Professionally, I am a composer and a pianist. I also tutor students, and have since my college years. I have developed a style of tutoring that encourages learning through experience, and forming a good bond with my students, so we can communicate comfortably. My students feel free to ask me questions, and I encourage them to explore different ways of thinking about things. I enjoy the challenge of creating approaches to learning that match each student's personality and needs. I also share with them my excellent study and organizational skills. I believe creative thinking has a place in every subject, including math. I am available to tutor in a wide variety of subjects, including language arts, music, Spanish, social studies, and much more. I also have experience successfully tutoring students as they prepare for standardized tests, such as the SAT, GRE, and others. Outside of music and tutoring, I love going for walks with my dog, and getting out to listen to live music in the area where I live.

JoshuaI have nine years of experience as a teacher, and during that time I've had the opportunity to teach reading, math, and test preparation for the ACT, SAT, and SHSAT. Before I became a teacher, I gained experience on standardized tests by working for one of the companies that makes them. I went to Oberlin to earn my bachelor's degree in music, and I've enjoyed playing in ensembles and working for the college radio station. I also attended Butler University for my masters degree in music, and I worked professionally as a dancer and musician. I've had the privilege of performing both off-Broadway and on Broadway as a member of regularly performing shows.

JamesMy parents were both teachers, and it was pretty obvious from a young age that I would be following in their footsteps. I earned my bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Texas at Austin. My tutoring experience begins long before that, though. I was tutoring math, science, and music since I was just 11 years old. That's more than two decades ago. I've continued tutoring throughout my life, moving on to working with elementary students on STEM subjects, and teaching small groups of students in coding for the computer. I have a leaning towards the maths and sciences, and can tutor students in pretty much any math or science subject there is. I like to pass on my excitement for the STEM area to the students I work with. I like to do hands-on study, using various machines of various sizes to show how concepts work in the real world, when possible. I've had some amazing experiences in my career, such as working on the cooling system for Mars rover cameras. I like it when I can work with students who are not confident that they can learn STEM subjects, because I know they can, and I feel pride in them as they grasp subjects they never thought possible.
