JustinI graduated high school nearly at the top of my class, and went on to earn my bachelor's degree in Political Science and Music, which I studied at Boston University. I completed a number of internships as part of my college experience, and was always on the Dean's List. One of my proudest achievements was graduating summa cum laude. I've had the opportunity to manage and train staff, and the skills I learned doing that now help me prepare my students for success. I have a love of education that tends to be inspirational for the students I tutor. I don't just focus on simple memorization with students, but instead work on the big picture. This enables my students to do well in their classes at school and when taking tests. It also offers them strategies and skills they can use for all their future studies, and even the rest of their lives. I am available to tutor in a wide variety of topics, such as many AP classes, music and music theory, and preparing students for standardized tests such as the SAT, LSAT, and more. During my free time, I like to travel and enjoy nature, ride horseback, and go deep sea fishing.

EvanI attended Portland State University, where I earned my BA in Communication. Since then, I have resided in Guangzhou, China, where I teach English to Chinese students. In addition to teaching, I have a great love of art, especially music. I've had the opportunity to teach guitar and music theory for a number of years, both in private lessons and through the city of Portland. I also have a passion for sports, and have taught them in various roles. Basically, I have a strong appreciation for learning, and a strong dedication to teaching. I am able to teach and tutor for ESL students who originally speak Spanish or Mandarin. When I am teaching or tutoring, I tend to be patient and flexible. Each learner feels comfortable with a certain way of learning, and my first goal in any teaching situation, especially private tutoring, is to discover that with them, and then learn their interests and strengths, so I can customize lessons that take advantage of these things, to keep them engaged during their lessons. I encourage my students to ask as many questions as they need to in order to understand what they are learning. Outside of teaching, I enjoy hiking, traveling, drawing, and writing.

BrianI obtained my bachelor of arts degree in Music and English from Covenant College. I went on to work in the Peace Corps as a volunteer, where I had the opportunity to travel to the Republic of Georgia. I had numerous duties there, one of which was to tutor students in middle and high school in the English language, writing, and also tutoring teachers in professional skills and computer literacy. When I finished serving in the Peace Corps, I attended Houghton College where I earned my masters in Music Composition. While there, I enjoyed tutoring undergrad students in music theory, and mentored teens in the area who were considered at risk. Now, I'm working on earning my bachelor of science degree in Computer Science at the University of the People, which is a global online education initiative. I love tutoring for a variety of classes, such as English and language arts, math, and study skills. I do get the most satisfaction from tutoring students of literature and writing, and helping students develop their own ability to learn. I individualize each student's set of lessons, taking into account their interests and strengths, which helps them be more interested on the lessons and accept ownership of their learning. In my spare time, I like writing, learning, and traveling.
