StoyanI'm adept at taking complex ideas and explaining them in creative understand ways, including relating them to other topics, providing examples, and helping students understand why ideas are important or how they are used in the real world. This is especially helpful in mathematics to help students visualize and retain ideas. I can tutor algebra, geometry, pre-calculus, history, beginning math, statistics, physics, Russian, ESL, and test preparation. In my free time, I like to read, walk, follow politics, and attend the theater.

LazizI have a lot of teaching experience, including teaching college and high school level physics and math. I've found that this experience actually made me understand these topics much better myself. Thus, I don't think of teaching as a process that only moves in one direction. I can learn from students as well, but they have to want to learn too. I value feedback when I teach, and so I do assign a lot of homework, but this gives me insight into how a student is doing. I also attempt to break concepts down into step-by-step processes so that students can better understand the material and understand how to approach novel problems. I believe that if I do this, I can help any student develop the skills they need to be successful in the classroom or in a one-on-one tutoring environment.
