MargaretI graduated from Purdue University, where I earned my BS in Biomedical Engineering. Now, I'm studying for my master's degree at the University of Southern California, where I'm learning about Medical Device and Diagnostics Engineering. I have had the opportunity to work as a mentor in high school, where I helped freshman or new students feel comfortable in the school. I've also worked at Purdue as a mentor in the student orientation program, where I eventually became a team leader, and then a supervisor. I've discovered, through these mentorship opportunities, that I am positive, open minded, patient, and have a friendly personality. I'm excellent when it comes to meeting and interacting with new people. I tutor various math and math-based subjects, such as algebra at all levels, microeconomics, and physics. The subject I like tutoring most is calculus, whether regular level or AP level. I like the way it challenges my students to apply various concepts to real-life situations. I appreciate calculus greatly because of its application to the everyday world. When I tutor, I focus on what the student is learning, and how they best learn it. I individualize lessons based on a student's preferred learning style. In my free time, I like to golf, spend time outdoors, and read.

GrantAs a student, I performed well on the SAT, and that open up opportunities for me for higher education. I was able to get financial aid and to gain admission to Texas Christian University, where earned my bachelor's degree in biochemistry. When I work with students, I'm determined to help them reach their goals. This could be preparing for certain sections on the exam like the SAT, PSAT, or something else, seeking help in AP courses, or just trying to understand a subject like algebra, biology, economics, chemistry, physics, macroeconomics, literature, history, microeconomics, or Spanish. Whatever a student needs, I'm willing to put in the effort to help them succeed.

DavidI love helping my communities, and I'm looking to tutoring as a great outlet for helping youth. I've been an Air Force pilot and a college student at Harvard, and understand the importance of organization, discipline, and hard work. This always has helped me find success, and I want to share this with students to help them realize their full academic potential and help them up to opportunities like I've had. When I work with students, rather than lecture or try to get students to memorize information, I instead teach the building blocks and ensure students understand them so they can apply their knowledge to new challenges. When students understand why something is important, they are more likely to understand it and to be motivated to learn more. I can tutor algebra, elementary and middle school math topics, geometry, physics, English grammar and syntax, reading, writing, government, microeconomics, business, and high school and college level physics. I can also help students prepare for the SAT and other standardized exams. When I have some free time, I like to ride my bike, run, read, and volunteer at the community garden. I'm also interested in environmental stewardship.
