MatthewI have a bachelor's degree in math from Bates College, and also earned a certificate to teach secondary math. As a college student, I tutored my peers in math and writing, and I had the opportunity to teach in the classroom and as a tutor on campus. I have additional teaching experience with an independent school for summer sessions and at an experiential education school, where I was able to mentor students on backpacking trips. I enjoy tutoring students in math because I believe that is a powerful tool to help students develop learning skills. Math requires creativity in the problem-solving process as well as problem-solving skills. I help students by explaining concepts directly, and I also guide students through solving math problems by asking questions as they attempt to solve problems. This helps to lead the student towards the correct answer and solidifies their understanding of the material. I'm looking forward to tutoring students in algebra, calculus one through three, differential equations, geometry, multivariable calculus, trigonometry, linear algebra, physics, finite math, and test preparations for related sections of the SAT, PSAT, AP exams, and others. In my free time, I enjoy playing music, carpentry, skiing, backpacking, and theater.

BenjaminI attended Iowa State University to earn my bachelor's degree in math. After college, I went to the UK, where I studied for my master's degree in math and finance. As a tutor, I'm comfortable in any math topic, but my favorites are graph theory and linear algebra. I had the opportunity to spend a year at the University of Essex, and my dissertation was in group theory, graph theory, and linear algebra, so these concepts are dear to my heart. I learned math is a powerful and fascinating subject but it is more than just numbers, and I try to help students understand that. When I have free time, I enjoy playing Kendama, yo-yoing, going for bike rides, and cheering for my favorite sports teams.

AndrewI attended Calvin College to receive my bachelor's degree in math. I also earned a classical Greek minor. I received funding for research as an undergraduate, and I was able to publish my findings in a journal. I love philosophy and math, and I like to share the information that I've collected over the years with students. As a tutor, I've been able to work with high school and college level students to help them learn multivariable calculus, linear algebra, calculus, pre-calculus, geometry, and algebra. I like to meet students at their current level, understand how they think, and then build from there to help them develop a strong understanding of the subject. When I have free time, I like to run, do yoga, and read. I also enjoy traveling.
