ConstanceI earned a bachelor's degree in economics and another in linguistics at Duke University. I also participated on Duke's dance team, and I had the opportunity to study abroad in Spain. As a linguist, I speak Chinese and Japanese. I have additional professional experience working with startups, and I'm looking forward to starting my career in finance in New York City. I have six years of experience as a tutor, where I worked privately and with tutoring organizations. I enjoy working with students who want to work hard and are determined to succeed, and my students invariably improve their grades and test scores. I can tutor many topics, but my specialties are test preparation for the PSAT and SAT. In my free time, I enjoy entrepreneurship, yoga, dance teams, and ballet.

BryanI earned my master's in Foreign Language Education (Mandarin) through the Steinhardt School of Education, Culture, and Human Development at NY University. I achieved my BA at the University of Western Australia. There, I majored in Finance, Financial Accounting, and Corporate Finance. My native languages is Mandarin, and I am also fluent in Japanese and English. Having a multicultural background, which includes these languages, enhances my ability to share various experiences with the students I tutor. When I first realized my interests were mainly in education and business, I wasn't sure they would work well together. I have always enjoyed teaching languages wherever I went. Even in high school, I tutored a number of students in Mandarin Chinese, and recently, I've tutored the VP of Operation in the company where I work in Mandarin. This has given me the opportunity to combine my interest in business and in education. I don't tend to use textbooks when I tutor, but rather, I choose authentic materials. This is more helpful in teaching students speaking and listening skills at all levels, and giving them the chance to practice writing and reading to proficiency. When tutoring a language, I focus on my student's interests, so we may use their current taste in music, their cultural experiences, or history--whatever they are interested in--to learn the language.

BrendanI'm currently attending the University of Arizona to earn degrees in computer science and Japanese. I'm on an academic scholarship as a National Merit Scholar. I had the opportunity to volunteer in Japan for several years, and while was there I taught students English. I taught groups of 3 to 25 in this role. I'm currently pursuing certification to teach the Japanese language. As a tutor, my favorite subjects are Japanese and math. I also enjoy helping students prepare for standardized tests like the ACT, PSAT, and SAT. I believe that to be a successful student, students need to understand not only the material, but they should also develop test taking skills, study skills, and other learning skills so that they can become self-sufficient. When I have free time, I like to play video games, indulge in Japanese culture, and program computers.
