JenniferIf you are looking for a tutor for help learning Italian, Russian, or English as a Second Language, I would love to work with you or your student. I taught English to Ukrainian students of all ages during my two-year stint as a Peace Corps volunteer. I shared my knowledge of English-speaking cultures with them and helped to prepare them for studying abroad. I have tutored students in the US in the basic courses of Reading, Writing, English Grammar and Syntax, and high school/college English, but also the more intense courses, such as AP English Language and Composition, College Essays, Comparative Literature, Essay Editing, and Public Speaking. I can help you or your student prepare for SAT Writing and Language, SAT Reading, PSAT Writing Skills, TOEFL, or GRE Verbal Reasoning. I have a Bachelor Degree in Literature/Writing from the University of California San Diego, and while there I tutored fiction and poetry-writing to other undergrads and received the honor of being invited to attend the university's first MFA poetry workshop. Outside of the classroom, I continue to read and write, and have recently discovered linocut printing. I love the outdoors, biking, hiking, and surfing. I have a new-found love of traveling the US and plan to see as much of it as possible.

GiselleI graduated from UCLA with a BA in Psychology, and I recently completed my PhD in Clinical Psychology from Pacific Graduate School of Psychology at Palo Alto University. While in school, I had many experiences working with children and adults of all ages, and with different abilities, and found a myriad of ways to help students learn and remember what they learned. As a graduate student, I mentored undergrads, coaching them through a variety of projects, including grad school applications. I have the experience and aptitude to help you or your student with a variety of subjects, including Algebra 1 and 2, Elementary School Math, Arithmetic, Middle School Math, Reading, Writing, English, Essay Editing, English Grammar and Syntax, College Essays, High School English, and College English. I'm well-versed in helping students prepare for testing, including mid-terms, finals, and standardized tests like ISEE and SAT. In my spare time I like to keep busy reading, learning new recipes to try out in the kitchen, and working on crafts and DYI projects around the house. I also love hiking, taking long walks with my dog, Pilates, dancing, and working out at the gym.

AnthonyI graduated magna cum laude from the University of Massachusetts in Boston with a bachelor's degree in Classics. After graduation, I attended the University of Arizona, where I earned my master's degree in Classics with a focus on Archaeology. Now, I am considering enrolling in a law program. My tutoring experience began in high school, where I worked with special needs students in History, Math, and English. As I worked toward my master's degree, I served as a mentor and teaching assistant for students from a variety of diverse foundations. I enjoy tutoring a wide range of subjects, but my favorite subject is European History. I love to teach students how historic events continue to impact our lives today. I am also well-versed in tutoring standard and AP-level World History and European History, Latin, Grammar and Mechanics, Writing, and Public Speaking. As a tutor, I teach my students to use logic to identify answers that can be quickly eliminated before we work as a team to find the correct answer. Then, to assess my students' understanding, I like to have them teach me the material. This helps me gauge their current level of knowledge so that I can help them master the material. When I'm not tutoring, I love to play ice hockey. I was also on the cross-country and track and field teams in high school. I love to read both fiction and non-fiction, taking in television shows, and playing the occasional video game. I am a kind, patient tutor who loves to work with any student who's willing to apply themselves.
