YvonneI'm a tutor who is based in Richmond, Virginia. When I'm not in the classroom working with students, I love listening to music, reading, watching movies, and studying health and nutrition. I have my master's degree in psychology from Virginia State University. Professionally, I've taught English for over ten years and consider myself to be a very skilled teacher. I strive to take my lessons beyond the average and help prepare my students to become lifelong learners. I believe that education should never be dull or boring. Accordingly, I make sure that I infuse my lessons with relevant materials to keep students engaged and interested. In that sense, I'll often use music, movies, and technology to help get kids interested in learning about English. As an English tutor, I think that English is a subject that serves as a foundation for everything else we do in life. I'm very passionate about the subject, and hope to instill a similar passion in my students. I love seeing students learn new things and grow. There's nothing quite like seeing a student you've been working with finally achieve that breakthrough moment in a subject they've been struggling with. I hope that I can use the skills I've spent my life developing to help you get the most out of your educational journey. Please, reach out if you think I can help!

JonI am a Chemistry tutor with an extensive educational and teaching background in the subject. I tutor Chemistry from General Chemistry at the high school level all the way to specialized college classes such as Organic Chemistry, as well as providing test prep such as the PCAT, DAT, and MCAT. My scholastic background makes me qualified for these subjects. In 1992 I went back to school to concentrate on chemistry and that has been my focus ever since. I completed a double BS (Biology, Chemistry) at VCU, then went on to graduate school at the University of Arizona. While there I earned my Masters, and while I was on my way towards earning a PhD I decided that teaching chemistry was more intriguing to me than working in a laboratory, so I decided that teaching Chemistry was what I wanted to do. I have been full-time faculty since 2001 and still teach full-time to this day. The classes I teach include General Chemistry, Organic Chemistry, and Analytical Chemistry. While my background is more in organic chemistry, I enjoy teaching general chemistry to students as well. With an excess of 20 years teaching chemistry at a college level I'm well qualified to tutor Chemistry.

JeffI went to the University of Utah to earn my bachelor's degree in math. I didn't know exactly what I wanted to do after I finished my degree, and I was considering going back to school for a master's degree in psychology. I decided to pick up some substitute teaching work, and I realized that education was my calling. Eventually, I enrolled in some courses to become certified as a teacher. I became a math teacher, and I love my job. It's very gratifying to help students build an appreciation of math and to see them experience success. I'm also proud of my status as a role model to my students, and I take that responsibility seriously. I believe that through support and encouragement, along with the appropriate level of challenge, all students can succeed. Students also need to see that I'm invested in them and that I am empathetic to their needs. I can tutor students in algebra, calculus, discrete math, finite math, trigonometry, geometry, statistics, pre-calculus, pre-algebra, middle school math, arithmetic, and the math sections of standardized tests like the SAT and ACT. I love tutoring because I get to focus on one student and their needs in the most effective way possible.
