LukeI am a tutor who specializes in math and science. I earned my bachelor's in biomedical engineering from Virginia Commonwealth University. The most valuable quality in a person is an ongoing love of learning and the determination to learn. This can be measured by our abilities in critical thinking rather than IQ or grades. Our world is founded on science, math, and language. As a tutor, I believe that linear education is the ideal strategy. Each private session focuses on building upon the student's current knowledge and expanding it into larger, complex concepts. I can tutor students of all ages and skill levels. While I specialize in science and math, I am confident in my abilities inn reading, writing, and English. I can break down the complicated aspects of calculus into easily understood information. I can teach a student the study and test skills necessary to boost their ability to recall what they've learned. Other than teaching, I love doing anything that challenges my mind or body. I enjoy photographing nature and working in my garden. I go rock climbing, hiking, and biking regularly. I play strategical video games and chess, as well as enjoy listening to podcasts and music.

JiangminI have taught chemistry for many years at the college level. Courses I've taught include organic synthesis, organic chemistry, and general chemistry. I've also tutored at the elementary and high school levels when I was in college. I enjoy working individually with students to help them develop an understanding of topics and problem-solving skills that they need to figure out answers on their own. I can also tutor students in math topics and Mandarin Chinese. When I have free time, I like to listen to music, run, play table tennis, and play badminton.

EmmaI'm a tutor based in Richmond, Virginia focusing on writing amongst other English-related academic fields. I know firsthand the pain that many students associate with becoming a strong writer. I was only able to establish my own skill through years of sheer hard work in the form of practice at school and in my spare time. I've used my interactions with the best writing professors that I've had to develop a means of connecting deeply with other writers. I use this connection with my students to focus on the topic at hand and help them mold a piece into the best it can be. I've made a habit out of collaborating with other writers, and so I've developed a real passion for helping others work really shine. As a recent graduate from college, I feel that my perspective can be more relatable and understandable than that of a professor. I also know that oftentimes college courses require students to write about topics that they may not have an interest in. I can use my passion of the field of writing to help spark that interest, in whatever way possible, and help my students put out a strong piece of work regardless of their interest level. I love tutoring because I feel like I get as much out of it as my students. I hope that I can use the skills I've developed throughout my academic career to help you reach new heights in your writing!
