SallyI have 18 years of experience teaching English, and I've had the opportunity to teach both in the United States and in the United Kingdom. I love my job, and I enjoy working collaboratively with students to help them learn successfully. I have a very interactive teaching style, but I also modify my approach to match the learning style of each student that I work with. It's important to me that I am presenting material in the way that the student learns best. I tutor reading, writing, essays, literature, public speaking, ESL, and related subjects. When I have spare time, I enjoy going to museums, watching films, traveling, being outside in nature, reading, hiking, drawing, and writing.

JackI've had more than seven years of experience educating students. This includes three years working specifically with middle and high school age math students, and working with students who have various learning disabilities. I've tutored students from elementary through secondary levels in pretty much any subject they might have, including math, reading and writing, social studies, and science. I also have had successful experiences tutoring students who were studying for standardized exams such as the PSAT, ACT, ASVAB, and SAT, among others. I take pride in my ability to guide students to understanding difficult ideas, by breaking them into simple tasks, and following the necessary steps to understand the whole process. I believe there are connections to be found in every subject students learn in school, and I enjoy sharing that with students and seeing them light up when they discover an unexpected connection that makes what they're learning much more meaningful to them. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy reading, exercising, and traveling.

BryanBefore I headed to college, I spent four years in the Marines. Then I studied the courses necessary to go to school to study Pharmacy, and did well on the PCAT. During this time, I tutored my fellow students in general and organic chemistry. I went on to earn my bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering. I really enjoyed tutoring when I was working in chemistry. I find great satisfaction in helping others through a difficult class, and I just love the "aha" moment. I loved it when I experienced it myself, and I love it just as much when my tutoring students experience it. I believe that to really help a student learn, I don't just waltz in as a tutor and provide them with information. Instead, I provide them with the tools they need to find their own answers. Basically, my best success is when I lose my job. That's okay, because knowing that each of my students leaves me in a better place for current and future learning provides my motivation to continue working as a tutor. So I drill my students on content and provide them with answers to help them learn, but more importantly, I teach them how to learn, and use study skills that will continue to help them achieve their goals.
