MiaowenI'm originally from Taiwan, and I can tutor students in Mandarin Chinese. I have a master's degree in art history, and I have been an English teacher and a Chinese to English translator for several years. I'm comfortable helping students learn any of these topics. I love to teach, and I understand that learning new languages can be difficult. As a tutor, it's my responsibility to help you learn the language and to speak better. I will lead you through this, and then I will provide you with mnemonics and other memory activities to help you remember information. I'm laid-back and easy to work with, and my evaluations have indicated this. When I have free time, I like to ride my bike, listen to music, and go on hikes. I also enjoy writing.

JuliaThroughout my experiences in life, one thing I know is that I love teaching. I'm skilled at identifying learning styles of each student I work with, and I can customize the way I teach to help people work through concepts they otherwise have trouble understanding. I also know several test taking and study techniques I can share with students. I have a lot of teaching and tutoring experience with students of all ages and levels of ability. I got my first experience as a TA, helping students from pre-K through high school in reading, math, and study skills. I also had the opportunity to teach environmental science in West Africa while in the Peace Corps. I developed the curriculum for this course, and customized my lessons to the needs of my students. I've also been tutoring privately for a while now. My track record says that my students have been successful, and my valuations have been very high. I can tutor literature, English, psychology, French, and test preparation for the GRE, SAT, and others. In my free time, I enjoy singing, playing the guitar, going to concerts, sci-fi, and reading. I'm also interested in environmentalism.

AryI earned degrees in comparative American studies and English from Oberlin College. I was able to graduate with high honors. I've been tutoring and teaching for the past five years in a wide variety of subjects, but my favorites are composition and writing. In college, I was a teaching assistant and writing tutor, and I had the opportunity to work with students from an array of educational backgrounds. I enjoy helping students develop arguments, decide upon their thesis, and overall helping them build a well structured essay. I believe every student has unique perspective to bring to writing, and it's up to me as the tutor to assist them in finding and expressing their voice. I am looking forward to tutoring students in algebra, geometry, social studies, elementary and middle school math topics, comparative literature, Spanish, reading, ESL, history, and of course writing. When I have free time, I enjoy working on music production and audio engineering, cooking, printmaking, riding my bike, and reading.
