KatWhile many tutors focus on the material to be learned, I stress how to learn instead. I believe that effective instruction begins by getting to know your student on a personal level so that you understand exactly what their strengths and weaknesses are. Then, you can use those strengths against those weaknesses and help your student master a concept that they previously struggled with! I majored in Philosophy with a minor in English in college, so those are my favorite subjects to teach. I'm comfortable working with just about anything though, as I love the teaching part of tutoring. When I'm not tutoring or working on my PhD in English Education, I enjoy hiking, drawing, painting, writing, reading, and philosophical discussions.

BenjaminAs a high school math teacher who loves seeing their students succeed and graduate, I can tutor you in everything from elementary school math to statistics, geometry, algebra, and calculus. I teach IB Mathematics as well and can help with preparation for the SAT Subject Test in Mathematics. Preparation for a standardized test is important, even if you feel you understand the subject. I have experience teaching students from diverse backgrounds. Math should feel fun because it is! I have a B.S. in Mathematics, Single Subject Mathematics Credential, and a Master of Education from UCLA. Other than numbers and teaching, my favorite things are consuming and making food, art, and music.
