TrentI love the French language now, but it wasn't always that way. As a high school student, I enrolled in French as a requirement, and I didn't like it all. I got by with a good grade, but it just wasn't particularly interesting. When I went to the University of Minnesota - Morris, I again enrolled in French to fulfill requirements. While I was studying French in college, I realized that the language started to click for me and I found myself enjoying it. Actually I spent some time in Paris, and all of the sudden I was determined to perfect my accent, which made the language become a lot more natural in my mind. I immediately made significant progress in the language, and I became confident my ability. This confidence gave me motivation to increase my skills, and I eventually switched my major to French studies. When I took my first linguistics class, I realized that language learning was something I had a real passion for. I began studying Italian as well. After I finished school, I moved to Los Angeles to pursue an acting career. I had some small roles and did some commercials, but I also further honed my language skills working in restaurants. I'm now looking to assist students with Italian and French as a tutor. I love to help people, and I will customize my lesson plans to meet the needs of each student.

SamI can tutor students in a number of subjects, but my specialty is preparing them for the LSAT. Many people think this test is intimidating, but I believe the material is attainable, and I can help students study the material and prepare them for the test format. I can also provide some test taking techniques that are useful for the exam.

JustinI earned my undergraduate degree from the University of Iowa in Japanese language and literature. During my studies I also focused on creative writing and poetry. I invested a great deal of time and effort in a variety of poetry workshops which gave me the opportunity to study with one of the country's leading creative writing professors. I further spent a year in Nagoya, Japan, studying Japanese at Nanzan University. Upon graduation I began working as a scorer of standardized exams and as a tutor. I currently tutor a variety of subjects, including Japanese, reading, writing, essay editing, phonics, literature, English grammar and syntax, IB extended essay, IB film HL and SL, IB world religions SL, AP human geography, languages, English, art, social studies, elementary school reading, and elementary school writing. I also help students prepare for upcoming standardized exams such as the ACT. I have extensive experience in working with language learners and in all forms of writing. I enjoy bringing my experience to my students to help them develop their own authentic voice and writing style. I know how powerful the written word can be when it is used effectively and it is a joy to help my students improve their skill and gain confidence in their ability.
