YaseminI started out tutoring as a high school student, helping students learn the French language and the flute. I really enjoyed tutoring, so I continued to do it through college, where I was able to help students learn chemistry, French, and Mandarin Chinese. After I graduated, I taught English for three years in China. I'm currently teaching ESL at a language school in San Diego. I enjoy tutoring because I can work individually with students and focus on their exact needs and learning style. It's rewarding to see students succeed and to become confident in their abilities in a topic they had previously had difficulty with. I'm looking forward to tutoring students in English grammar, vocabulary, Mandarin Chinese, Latin, French, history, algebra, social studies, ESL, music theory, phonics, flute, and test preparation for the ACT, SAT, ISEE, and other exams. In my free time I like to play music, listen to music, spend time with friends, go to the beach, and cook.

I'm looking forward to tutoring students in biology, chemistry, algebra, middle school math topics, and other related topics. I've also had the opportunity to study in Spain, and I'm an excellent speaker of Spanish. As a tutor, I'm an active listener and mentor. I'm looking forward to helping students learn new things. In my free time, I like to sing karaoke, line dance, and visit SeaWorld.

AlysonI started out as a tutor by helping my special needs sister with homework after my mother passed away at a young age. This helped me develop a love of teaching, along with the skill to be patient while students learn at their own pace. I attended the University of Colorado at Boulder to earn degrees in both communication and finance, then moved on to the National University for Teaching to earn my master's degree. I've had the opportunity to teach at an orphanage in Cambodia, and I've tutored students in a classroom setting and privately. Throughout these experiences, I've learned how important it is to understand the learning style of the student first, and to relate concepts to things the student already knows about, while I provide support and encouragement. This allows me to tutor the student using the methods that will work best for them. I also like to inject some humor into our sessions to help a student have fun while they learn. I pledge to put forth my best effort to help students succeed, and to adjust my approach as needed to focus on the student's success. In my free time, I like to read, rock climb, travel, ride my bike, hike, paddle board, and just in general get outside in nature and do fun things.
