TheresaI worked at a VA Medical Center in San Juan, Puerto Rico, which motivated me to become a tutor to continue my passion for serving and helping others. At the center, one of my responsibilities was to find students who were interested in volunteering at the VA Hospital. During this time, I gave the students teaching, mentoring, training, and professional and personal development workshops. Later, sometimes up to fifteen years later, these pupils would come back and tell us of their accomplishments since leaving my care. I learned just how important it is to help pupils early on to influence their future decisions. My goal as a tutor is to see my students succeed in their career, as well as their life. I strive to teach in an interactive and interesting way. It is important to engage students in the material at hand and keep them interested as long as possible. I can tutor online or in-person. I have been researching tutoring methods and teaching processes, and I am excited to help in English and/or Spanish! When I am not helping others, you can find me listening to music, learning coaching skills, and reading.

MelissaI have a reading and literacy graduate degree from Walden University, as well as an elementary school education certificate and certification to teach in Florida. I've had the opportunity to build my experience as an educator with special needs children and ESL students. I believe everyone can learn when they're given the proper opportunities. When I have to, I can enforce discipline, but it's much better when the learner is a willing participant, and so I try to get students engaged. As a tutor, I like to stay positive and patient, and I'm willing to put in as much hard work as the student. I believe this is how success is best achieved.

ChelseaI'm Chelsea, and I've two years of teaching experience. I love teaching, and I enjoy working with students. It's rewarding to see students that I work with achieve their goals, and I instill in every student I work with that they have the ability to find success in their learning. I customize my approach for each student, making sure that I address their individual needs. I believe that every student can learn successfully, and that all students deserve the opportunity for a quality education. I can provide that by teaching students in the way that they learn best. I can tutor general elementary school topics, private school admissions exams, English, writing, ACT preparation, SAT preparation, and others. In my spare time, I enjoy practicing photography, painting, coloring, traveling, reading, and animals.
