TarrynI graduated from the University of Oregon in 2012 with a bachelor's degree in finance, as well as a minor in economics. During my time as a college student, I also worked as a business tutor where I helped a number of business students improve their public speaking and writing skills. Currently, I am enrolled in a master's program at Concordia University, where I am working towards a teaching degree and teacher's certification. I've always loved teaching others, which is why I started my own tutoring business while I was still a high school student. As a tutor, I helped people of all grade levels, including college students, improve their understanding of math. I believe that the best way to help someone overcome their academic hurdles is to create a professional relationship where you get to know the student's strengths and weaknesses. Once you've done that, you can then create material that's designed specifically for the student so that they're able to learn in a way that works best for them. Furthermore, I believe that everyone has the ability to excel in math, provided they have the help and confidence needed to push through the challenges. Along with education, my other hobbies include photography, softball, and scrapbooking.

SheilaAfter graduating with my bachelor's degree, I enrolled in a graduate program in education and became a certified classroom teacher in California. During this time I've worked as a homeroom teacher for a number of grades in elementary school, in addition to teaching special lessons to students who speak English as a second language. In addition, I've also worked many years as a substitute teacher for students of all grade levels, including kindergarten. Along with teaching in California, I received a TEFL certificate in Spain and went on to teach English in Mexico and Spain to people of all ages. My experience as a homeroom and ESL teacher has taught me the importance of customizing learning material, which is why I tailor lessons to fit each student's individual needs. While English is my main passion, I enjoy teaching social studies, writing, reading, and math. As an effective tutor, I believe it's important to connect with your students on a personal level so that you can teach them in a way that works best for them. I also believe that it's necessary to maintain a positive and friendly learning environment where people feel comfortable to learn. Outside of education, my other hobbies include gardening, traveling, and painting.

CarlyI went to UC - Irvine for my bachelor's degree in drama. I also earned a literature minor. I then went to UC - Santa Cruz for my master's degree in education, also earning credentials as an English teacher. Since graduating, I've been teaching language arts and drama at the middle school and high school levels. I've also been a director of several high school productions, and I was able to help the school develop its visual and performing arts program. My favorite subjects to tutor are writing and literature, and I enjoy helping students become stronger writers and improve reading comprehension. My years of experience as a teacher has helped me develop a library of resources and techniques to successfully help students learn and become confident in their abilities. When I have free time, I like to read, tend my garden, watch plays and movies, and spend time with friends and family.
