I'm an experienced tutor and teacher, who also has a lot of experience rock climbing. I studied philosophy in college and after I graduated with my bachelor's degree, I pursued another passion of mine. I have always loved rock climbing and went on to become a rock climbing guide. I worked to encourage people to conquer their fears and also get out of their comfort zones. I have gotten good at gently pushing people past their fears. Another skill I learned from being a guide that I have carried into teaching is using a combination of technical knowledge and encouragement to help my pupils reach their goals. It is important to help students develop critical thinking skills that they will use throughout the rest of their lives. Throughout all of my endeavors, I have continued to pursue my love for learning and I hope I can spark the same passion in each pupil I teach. When I am not tutoring, you can find me doing crosswords and taking photos, I love photography. I am looking forward to helping you or your student develop a love of learning as strong as mine.Education

I am a Grand Valley State University graduate with a bachelor's in French language and culture minoring in anthropology. My coursework emphasized literature that focused on the Renaissance and Medieval time periods. During both high school and college, I tutored fellow students to prepare them for higher education. The transition from one academic phase to the next can be turbulent, however the right support can ease the stress and anxiety. I spent six months post graduation traveling across 25 major cities, promoting awareness about the dangers of texting and driving with a distracted driving simulator. I firmly believe that being education of other cultures, we can form brighter and more empathetic intellects. I tutor students in a variety of areas, though I love teaching the 17th and 18th centuries of literature, French 1 through 4, and homework support. I can help a student improve their ability to pronounce French words correctly through ongoing communication. Immersion and engagement are invaluable aspects of learning the French language, which has many unique rules. In my free time, I am working on learning a third language. I have many hobbies that I enjoy doing, including reading, hiking, cooking, art, and fire spinning performances.Education
