MasoomaI have worked as a tutor for four years, experience that has taught me a couple valuable lessons about how to go about it. First, it's important to support your students every step of the way. If they feel that their learning environment is safe, they won't be afraid to try something and make a mistake that turns into a valuable learning opportunity. Second, every student has their own learning style that it is the responsibility of the educator to adapt to. As an undergraduate at the University of Illinois at Chicago, I also remember what it's like to be a high school student. This helps me relate to any academic issues a student is having. When I'm not studying or tutoring, I enjoy reading, baking, tennis, writing, and watching Star Trek reruns.
