RobertI earned my bachelor's degree in Spanish from Pepperdine University, and continued my education in Spanish until I had earned my PhD in it through the University of Minnesota in the Twin Cities. I have developed a philosophy that a student becomes truly mature when they understand that their perspective, their outlook on life, is one among all the others in the world, and that each person experiences the world in a different way. I have found that studying cultures outside a student's normal experience, and this very much includes language, helps them achieve that maturity. Speaking in a different language forces students to look at the world in a different way, which is a very mind opening experience. When I work with students as a tutor, I work to develop a rapport right away, so I can get to know the ways they best soak up information. This promotes efficient learning. By tutoring students in Spanish and Arabic, I am able to help them connect to a wider world, because the technology we have today allows students with the ability to connect with native speakers of other languages to enhance their success. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, reading, and cooking.

KateI went to Elon University to earn a double major in communications and English, along with a German studies minor. My tutoring experience includes working on campus in the writing center, where I was able to help students develop writing skills by helping them through essays, resumes, presentations, and literature reviews. I love helping students find their voice as a writer, as well as helping them refine structure and presentation of their writing. I love to learn, and I love sharing my knowledge with others. In addition to writing, I can also help students with algebra, geometry, German, public speaking, critical reading, literature, history, and test preparation for the ACT, PSAT, SAT, and other standardized exams. When I have free time, I like to read, write, knit, bake, and go on runs.

GraysonMy teaching strategy is to take the time to work at the individual student's pace. I have a personal goal to ensure the subject is interesting to the student and to assist the student in wanting to learn and develop their understanding of the subject. I don't rush the student to learn on my schedule because each student learns at their own pace. I am a lifelong learner in mathematics and enjoy sharing my knowledge with students. I have experience with preparing students to test out of math classes so that they could advance their mathematics studies quicker. I believe that math is interesting and even fun when taught in the right manner. My tutoring experience has been with students of any age and in the subjects of accounting, finance, photography, science, and software applications. I earned a bachelor's degree in Accounting from the University of North Dakota and a master's degree in Computer Science and Finance. I enjoy photography in my free time and even work part-time as a professional photographer. I also enjoy sailing when I am not studying, tutoring, or working.
