NixiI'm currently pursuing my PhD in educational measurement and statistics, specializing also in multicultural education curricula, at the University of Washington. I am available to tutor students in a wide variety of topics, especially those related to math, English, and Mandarin Chinese. I also have extensive experience helping students study for standardized exams like the SAT, GED, and ACCUPLACER, among others. I focus on a problem-solving mindset when tutoring students, as I believe any subject can be learned through studying patterns and mastering the basic concepts that will aid them throughout their future academic careers. Focusing on problem solving helps students retain what they learn a lot better than simple rote memorization, as it teaches them how to learn, even as they are learning.

ChrisSome teachers teach to the test, while others strive to help students develop a conceptual understanding of the material. I'm a little bit different in that I work on the material until my student is able to teach it back to me, without any contributions on my end. To me, the ability to teach something demonstrates your total mastery of the work. I focus on STEM subjects such as Engineering, Calculus, Physics, Thermodynamics, and Algebra because I love the expression on a student's face when a difficult concept finally clicks. I like that moment of enlightenment when I get it as an undergraduate studying Materials Science at the University of Washington, but I like it even more when I help somebody else get there. Reach out to me today for information on my current availability!
