JosephI attended the University of North Carolina, where I received a bachelor's degree in biomedical engineering. My college education gave me the opportunity to get some hands-on experience in my field, including using CAD software to help create prosthetic implants. As someone who loves teaching and learning, I've always tried to share my experiences with anyone who's interested. Ever since I was a high school student, I've also been a math tutor. As an engineer, I know just how important math is in our day-to-day lives, which is why I strive to help people gain a better understanding of the content. I think that a good education isn't one that just prepares students for upcoming tests, but rather teaches them skills that they can use out in the world. For this reason, I like to tutor math in a way that students can relate to, so that they can use their coursework to help them solve problems throughout life. It's my goal to ensure that all of my students have the knowledge and skills needed to succeed, both academically and professionally. When I'm not teaching, I like to spend my time playing team sports, swimming, and cooking new types of food.

IleneI have 21 years of teaching experience. I became a tutor and private instructor 10 years ago. As a teacher I've had the opportunity to teach English, ESL, and French. As a tutor, I've been able to work with students to help them improve their understanding of algebra one and two, history, geometry, music, biology, geography, nutrition, civics, and standardized test preparation for the SAT and ACT. I believe the key to successful learning is for the teacher to identify and teach to the student's academic level and optimal learning style. Every student is different, and they will experience success in learning from approaches that are designed to meet their needs.

AshleyI graduated from Baldwin Wallace University with a bachelor's in physics and a minor in math. While enrolled, I offered my services as a tutor to undergraduate and high school students. I've taught in a variety of subjects related to math, including all levels of algebra and calculus, astronomy, and geometry. I enjoy working with students to improve their knowledge in math, whether I am filling in the gaps of second grade math or helping them better comprehend the material in college algebra. I base each session around the student's skill level, learning personality, interests, and strengths and weaknesses. As a tutor, I strongly believe that it is important to help my students grow as individuals to prepare them for lifelong learning. I strive to make learning fun through entertaining and engaging activities. I tutor because education has had a profound impact on my life and I want to be part of the effort to support the education of others. When I'm not tutoring, I am often doing whatever I can to learn. I enjoy attending lectures on science and astronomy topics. I enjoy traveling whenever I can, learning about cultures and people. I also spend a lot of time outside or playing video games.
