SpencerI went to Wabash College to earn my bachelor's degree in political science and government, and then I went on to Marian University to earn my master's degree in English education. My experience as an educator includes work as an English teacher, advisor, special education teacher, summer camp program facilitator, and theater conservatory faculty member. I believe that students need to understand themselves and how they learn to be successful and work for the benefit of society. I felt terrible for students who have been left behind by the system, and I am motivated to help these students improve their learning skills and become confident in their capability to succeed. I take pride in my ability to the classroom experience which is positive and safe so that students from all backgrounds and socioeconomic statuses can enjoy learning. I provide support and guidance, and I act as a mentor and role model to all of my students. I believe that all students deserve the opportunity to learn effectively, so I focus on helping students develop critical thinking skills and a better understanding of course material so that they can become self-sufficient academically. Outside of teaching and tutoring, I enjoy the theater, board games, video games, soccer, ultimate Frisbee, and building computers.

RichardI attended both Georgetown University and Loyola University at New Orleans College of Law. I earned my bachelor's of science degree in International Relations with a focus on International Politics, and also earned my JD at law school. I have more than five years of experience in tutoring students of all ages, from elementary through college, in a wide array of subjects. My favorite subjects to tutor involve language arts and the social sciences. This goes along with my belief that having a true understanding of social issues and communication is essential to continuing to grow and develop as a society. I do tutor many other classes, such as math, critical reading, and others, including many AP level classes. I also have had success assisting students as they prepare for standardized tests, such as the SAT, TOEFL, PSAT, and others. When I work with a student, I initially discover their motivations and strengths, which leads me to the best way to interest the student in the subject at hand. When a student can identify with the content, especially with examples from their interests, they find the subject more interesting, and are more eager to study. In my spare time, I enjoy watching football and reading.

DeborahI think tutoring is the best way for students to learn. The individual attention a tutor gives a student, along with the investment a tutor puts into a student, help students be motivated to succeed themselves. I can tutor high school level science and math courses, and I also assist with ACT and SAT test preparation. I have 16 years of tutoring experience, and during that time I've been able to help hundreds of people. My goal as a tutor is to help students become more confident, overcome their anxiety, and perform at the best level possible.
