ShivramI am in the process of completing a degree in neuroscience at Duke University. I am passionate about helping others, which has led to me pursuing a career in medicine. I have participated in activities where I taught others throughout my time in school. I have experience teaching younger students to play the harmonium and I also have experience helping my peers work through different subjects. The challenges I went through as a student motivate me to try to be the best teacher I can be. I also understand areas that can cause problems and I can teach my students how to avoid them. I am comfortable tutoring students in psychology and social sciences. However, my primary focus is on helping students prepare for the MCAT. I can assist students with studying for MCAT verbal reasoning, MCAT, chemical and physical foundations of biological systems, MCAT biological and biochemical foundations of living systems, and the MCAT psychological, social, and biological foundations of behavior sections. Overall, I believe that communication is key to creating a healthy environment for studying so I strive to create that type of environment with my students. My hobbies include music, piano, board games, community service, and basketball.

JessicaI have always enjoyed learning, and have earned my bachelor's degree in Biomedical Engineering from Duke University. I was able to take advantage of my dad's skill as a tutor, and once I went to college, I found out how lucky I had been to have him right there to work with me. I sought tutoring through my school, and that was the perfect solution to my academic woes. I learned new ways to study, and discovered that not everybody learns in the same way. I didn't always understand things the way my professor explained them, but then one of my tutors would present me with the perfect analogy or example that made it click for me. I valued these experiences, and eventually decided I wanted to help others in the same way. As my dad did for me, I wanted to provide other students with a resource they could trust to help them reach their academic goals. I've learned to take the time with each student to learn their strengths and the learning styles that work best with them, so I can create individualized study programs for each student. In my spare time, I enjoy reading a good science fiction novel.
