MatthewI attended Emory University, earning my bachelor's degree in anthropology and human biology. I also minored in predictive health. After graduation, I worked at the Emory University School of Medicine as a laboratory assistant. I enjoy all STEM topics, but I love biology and biotechnology topics like cell biology, physiology, and genetics. I am hoping to one day become a dentist, and I'm working on my dental degree currently. As an undergraduate, I had the opportunity to help students learns subject material and prepare for exams and quizzes. I think education is key to the success of individuals, and I also believe everyone is capable of learning a topic. When I work with students, I'm positive and encourage students to be active in our lessons. I believe in creating a learning environment that is fun and challenging. Challenging students while motivating them helps them improve more quickly. In my free time, I like to exercise by running, hiking, and skiing. I also like to travel, practice photography, and go to great restaurants.

JesseI love helping people learn new things, and this is what led me to tutoring. I began tutoring as a high school student because my peers looked to me as an authority on the topic. I often stayed late after school and tutored peers as a volunteer. Generally, I was helping students learn math. As a high school senior I started tutoring professionally, and absolutely loved it. I got to meet a lot of people and help people improve their grades. After high school, I continued in tutoring. I tutored at summer camps helping students prepare for the SAT and helping students work on college applications. Experiences like this have allowed me to hone my tutoring skills, and put me in new challenges where I have had to figure out how to help students be successful. I enjoy the creative problem-solving tutoring requires of me. I'm looking forward to helping students learn new things and achieve academic success. When I have free time, I like to learn new skills on my own. I'm currently learning the German language and I'm also learning to program computers. On a less ambitious note, I also like to watch Netflix.

ElizabethI attended Cornell University-Ithaca to earn my PhD in biomedical engineering. While there, I found my passion for math and physics. I am enrolled at UNC Chapel Hill's School of Pharmacy as a postdoctoral research fellow. While there, I am working on a non-viral gene therapy system to treat tumors. I gained much of my experience as a tutor over the past several years. I work with many high school and undergraduate students. As a tutor, I strive to offer direction and insight to their learning process through personalized lesson plans and activities. I encourage reflection of the material as the student practices with it through various methods. I often use my research experience to improve my examples to students. I believe that traditional education and private education provide a balance in learning. I fill in any educational blanks while focusing on the student's individual goals. I seek to give my students the tools and resources needed to master the subject at hand, whether that topic is pre-calculus, biomedical engineering, physics, or any other math topic. In my free time, I love to explore nature. I am particularly fond of waterfalls and mountain hikes. I am an avid reader. I also enjoy the PhDivas podcast, weightlifting, and painting.
