ZenaidaI went to the University of California - Davis to earn my bachelor's degree in Spanish. I also emphasized Latin American literature and language. I'm currently seeking my tutoring credentials for the state of California. I love to learn, and I enjoy taking courses to stay sharp and for my own enjoyment. My tutoring specialties are Spanish, English language arts, and math. I spent the last year tutoring elementary school students and building a library of technical resources to help keep students engaged and learning. I also enjoy theater, and I teach dramatic arts. When I have free time, I like to garden, sew, sing and dance in the theater, and travel.

JoelI received my bachelor's degree in English at the University of California - Davis. I emphasized literary theory and criticism, and I also earned an education minor. I've been helping students write better essays and improve critical reading skills since I was a high school student. I am looking forward to Masters programs in English and creative writing, and ultimately I would like to earn a doctorate in English literature. As a tutor, I can help students develop stronger arguments, proofread and edit, help students develop better sentence structure and essay organization, refine grammar skills, and more. I'm looking forward to helping students become better writers and readers, I hope that students develop a love of these topics through my tutelage like I have. When I have free time, I enjoy writing, pop-culture, literature, listen to music, and learning American Sign Language.

CourtneyI started my academic career at the College of the Redwoods, where I earned an associate degree in science. From there, I received a bachelor's degree in wildlife biology from Humboldt State University, as well as a master's degree in environmental policy and management from American Public University. Along with working for the United States Forest Service, I've also helped students of all ages improve their understanding of natural science and life sciences, like biology and zoology. My experience working directly with wildlife has helped me learn how to teach challenging scientific concepts in a manner that's easy for anyone to understand. While I love science as a whole, it's life science that I'm truly passionate about. There's no greater feeling than being able to talk with my students about biology and watching their interest levels increase as they learn more about plants and animals. As a tutor, I believe that it's important to create a student-centered learning environment that places their needs first. I work to design lessons that are custom-tailored for each and every student, so that they can learn in a way that works best for them. Along with being around animals and working outdoors, I also enjoy watching baseball and playing volleyball.
