ZacharyAs a tutor, the most significant thing I've learned is that everybody learns in their own unique way. It's of the utmost importance that I am able to adjust to match the needs of each student I work with. I pride myself on this ability, and I utilize patience and resourcefulness to help students work at their pace and to present things to them in ways they understand. I encourage students to communicate and ask questions, and I'm enthusiastic about the subject to keep students engaged. These are the building blocks of my tutoring philosophy. I have a great track record in helping students understand concepts in math, and for having them develop an appreciation of the topics themselves. I attended Wake Forest University for my bachelor's degree in math, and then moved on to North Carolina State for my master's degree in math. I'm currently attending NC State to earn my doctorate in math. Outside of math, I enjoy music and card games.

GustavI've done a lot of different things in my life and I've been all over, but one thing that has been consistent is my desire to tutor and teach. I've taught ESL in Peru, math to students in Connecticut, and writing to students in Ypsilanti, but no matter where I go or what the subject is, I love teaching and helping students learn new things. I prefer the one-on-one approach of tutoring, because I believe that students can learn in a way that is smarter and not harder. I first help students get organized. We figure out what students need to know and what their goals are. Then we focus on the student's needs and learning style to help them learn effectively and in an efficient manner. I'm currently at Duke University studying to be a physician assistant. I want to one day be a clinic director. I recently spent a year in Ecuador and Peru at a non-profit clinic, and I would like to go to Africa next. When I have free time, I like writing, playing the guitar, swimming, improv comedy, and spending time with friends.

EddieI went to the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, earning my bachelor's degree in chemistry. I also became certified as a high school science teacher. I'm taking classes in every aspect of science, and I'm gifted in helping students understand complex ideas as a result. Many disciplines within science connect to each other, so I can take difficult ideas from one course and explain it by using simpler concepts in another aspect of science. I believe every subject can be presented in a way that is easy to understand, and the most important aspect of mastery is developing a fundamental understanding of the basics. After graduating, I've been a high school science teacher, and outdoor educator, and I've written a book about how our world interrelates with itself. I can tutor students in the sciences and the social sciences, and I can relate topics to things you already understand. I love showing how concepts connect with each other. When you work with me, I will help you have fun and develop an interest in the topic, which is the best way for you to experience success. I worked with a lot of students, and I've had a lot of success. When I have free time, I enjoy improv comedy, yoga, basketball, and stretching.
