NoelI'm a tutor who is based out of Detroit, Michigan, where I enjoy playing music, playing tennis, and juggling when I'm not in the classroom working with students. As a tutor, I'm able to provide students with lessons in a variety of subjects, including French, Spanish, reading, and writing, amongst other things. I have my bachelor's degree in English along with a minor in music from the University of Toledo. I also will be finishing a bachelor's degree in Spanish soon, and am working on my master's degree in urban planning. I've spent time living in abroad in multiple countries, and have been working with both adults and children for over ten years. I've always been extremely passionate about helping others learn, which is one of the reasons why I've always loved being a tutor. I enjoy getting to know my students, and use what I learn about them to develop individualized lesson plans suited to that student's specific needs. These targeted lessons allow me to use a teaching style that works best for the student and allows the student to grow as much as possible during our limited time together. I like to keep my lessons engaging, because I believe that learning should be fun. I hope to give all of my students the skills that they need to be successful academically for years to come.

EkeneI'm attending the University of Michigan - Dearborn to earn my undergraduate degree in biochemistry. In high school I took early college credits and five different AP courses. I've been tutoring college students and elementary school students since I graduated from high school, and I've helped people learn a variety of subjects, mostly in the sciences. I also help out as a supplementary instructor at my college in psychology and organic chemistry courses. I enjoy tutoring and teaching because it's different every time. Each student learns differently, and I like to work from the student's viewpoint to help them gain the proper perspective and understanding of the subject. I focus on helping students truly understand the material as opposed to rote memorization. I take a hands-off approach with students and just guide them along the way as they work out problems on their own. This help students become self-sufficient learners, which is the key to their success. In my free time, I enjoy soccer and basketball.

AkhilI'm a tutor who is based out of Detroit, Michigan, where I enjoy reading, playing sports, and doing yoga when I'm not in the classroom working with students. I'm currently an undergraduate student at the University of Michigan, where I'm pursuing a bachelor's degree in both English and political science. As a tutor, I'm able to provide students with lessons in a variety of subject areas. Some of the topics I've taught before include math, history, public speaking, and English, amongst other things. I have a lot of experience working as a tutor, where I've helped students aged from pre-K to college. I'm also able to help students with standardized test preparation, such as for the ACT. I developed my tutoring style based on the teaching styles of the best teachers I've ever had. I never give a student the answer, but instead give them the tools they need to figure it out on their own. Just knowing the answer to something isn't enough. Instead, I expect and help my students to show their work and think about each problem critically. My hope is that each of my students will leave our time together feeling more confident in their ability to succeed academically not just in the course they came to me for help with, but in all of their courses.
