RachelAs an educator for the past 20 years, I have had the privilege to teach from students of various ages, ranging from the pre-K level up through the high school level. I have extensively worked in intervention settings, such as Special Ed and Rtl as well as with the English Language. Over the years, I have taught reading, Spanish, science, math, and test prep. I offer tutoring in a wide range of subjects including algebra, geometry, math of all levels, and SAT and ACT prep. Currently, I own a small business that is still within the field of education. I hold a full International Baccalaureate degree from UC - Davis. I tested in Spanish, anthropology, art, math, English, and biology. I am a student myself as I am furthering my education degree by working on my Master's equivalent. I have been an exchange student to Costa Rica, which helped me learn and perfect the Spanish language, as well as my favorite hobby of salsa dancing. In addition to teaching hundreds of children, I have three of my very own. I am very excited to get to know my future students and get started on a plan that helps meet their educational needs.

MichelleI love nature. It's my biggest inspiration due to its complexity and constant state of change. Mathematics is a powerful tool for explaining nature. I consider math a universal language. The connections between nature and math inspired me to study astrophysics and math at the University of New Mexico. I understand that science and math topics are difficult for people and seem intimidating. When I teach these topics, I help students breakdown their psychological barriers to them. I've had many students who thought they couldn't do math eventually realize they were pretty good at it. I often relate math to practical applications that help students understand them and why they are important to learn. It's incredibly rewarding when students master physics and math topics. I truly believe that any student can do anything if they have the determination and work ethic. I also would like to help students prepare for exams like the GED or IB finals. In my free time, I like to garden, cook, study astronomy, go for hikes, and take care of my dogs and horse.

CharlaI'm a tutor that is currently based in Albuquerque, New Mexico, where I enjoy spending time with my dog and hiking when I'm not working with students. I have my bachelor's degree in business administration and Spanish literature from Roanoke College, where I achieved a 3.95 GPA. I'm currently a Latin American Studies master's degree candidate at the University of New Mexico, where I currently hold a 4.0 GPA. As a tutor, I'm able to teach a wide range of subjects, including Spanish, economics, math, and English. Of course, my educational background is just one component of who I am as a tutor. I strive to empower my students by building their confidence in subject areas that they're struggling with. I consider myself to be an innovative teacher who incorporates real-world materials into my lesson plans to keep my tutoring sessions fun and exciting. I know that each student learns and processes materials in different ways, and so I always ensure that I take the needs of the student into account when developing my lesson plans. Let me know if you'd like to work with me to help you find success in academics and reach your goals!
