StevenI attended the Indiana University of Pennsylvania, where I earned my BS in Physics, with a minor in Mathematics. My physics instructor in high school is the one who inspired me to focus on physics. Because his passion and enthusiasm for the subject was so strong, I picked up on that, and at the same time, a desire to teach, as well. I enjoy teaching so much that I am now pursuing my second degree in Physics Education. I have worked with students through leading a drum line at a nearby high school, and went on to tutor students struggling with physics during my time at college. I have developed a theory that education in any subject can be achieved by working through problems in small, easily learned steps. With a focus on analyzing things in this way, I believe students of all ages and ability levels can succeed in the classroom, and in other areas of their lives, as well. I mostly tutor in math and science subjects, but also enjoy tutoring in essays, writing, and language. I can also help students as they study for standardized tests, such as the SAT and others. In my free time, I like photography, video games, and drumming.

Mary KateI am currently completing my undergraduate degree in early elementary and special education at Seton Hill University. I have completed a tutoring practicum with elementary students, and have also had several teaching practicums in the public school system. Beyond my practicums, I worked for two summers with students at a day camp. I even assisted with a dance class for children with exceptional needs who were learning different dance moves. I have extensive experience tutoring elementary students and students with special needs, but I can help students of any age with their English skills. I am qualified to tutor Elementary Math, Reading, Writing, Math, English, Special Education, English Grammar and Syntax, Phonics, ISEE- Lower Level, SSAT- Elementary Level, ISEE, Test Prep, SSAT, 3rd Grade Science, 4th Grade Science, Science, Elementary School Science, Elementary School Math, High School English, and College English. I am a major sports fan and love to watch my teams play, including the Steelers and the Pirates. I love to play soccer and volleyball, and I enjoy running. I like music, reading, playing the guitar, and spending time outside.

LewisI'm a recently graduated tutor based in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. I have my bachelor's degree in chemical engineering from Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute, and consider myself to be a passionate mathematician. Outside of the classroom I enjoy winter sports like skiing and snowboarding. In fact, I've spent seven years instructing children and adolescents ranging from ages four to sixteen. This extensive background working with young people has allowed me to refine my teaching techniques through the hundreds of lessons I've taught on the slopes. As an instructor, I always felt best when I saw my students finally overcome a problem area that they had been struggling with. In the classroom I've worked with elementary school-aged children as well as early college students. I use the same teaching methods I refined on the slopes to achieve great results in the classroom. I like to add fun to subjects that students may not be interested in. I think that students are more likely to succeed if they enjoy a subject, and so as a tutor it's important for me to try and instill that interest in my students. I hope that I can use the skills that I've developed throughout my life to enrich your classroom experience.
