HaroldI have experience working as a tutor in a variety of platforms. When I was in college, I worked as a teaching assistant for freshman physics and tutored the class students. I have also worked as an online tutor through the Star Tribune website. I taught myself calculus by studying an old textbook that I found, and I earned a degree in physics with honors. My teaching philosophy is to act as a guide to students on their path to academic discovery. I find enjoyment in tutoring students in the many levels and subjects of math as well as physics and computer science. I believe that as a tutor I can help students to learn new skills in math and that the student will develop a satisfaction in their studies. I also believe that I can help students to retain the knowledge they gain from our sessions for a longer period of time than they otherwise would. In my free time I enjoy orienteering because it involves math and the outdoors. I also like to hike.

BrittnyMy desire to help students do well led to me volunteering to tutor as an undergrad student. I assisted area students in getting ready for the standardized state high school tests by sharing approaches to studying and providing help in math, science, and language arts. Additionally, I helped with test prep for the ACT and SAT. My help was not contained to only middle and high school students though; I also taught students from Kindergarten through 5th grade. All of this is to say that I have a background in helping students of all school levels to do well in school. Subjects I tutored included math, reading, and language arts. When I'm tutoring a student I aim to understand where the student's level of comprehension currently is and to figure out the best means to help them improve. My approach to tutoring is generally to employ the use of worksheets and projects related to the areas the student is finding the hardest. I will also let the student work on their own in order to assess their progress as I feel this instills the assurance necessary to finish assignments independently. I try to be flexible in order to do what it takes to help the student improve.

BillI love to work with kids, and I can tutor students of all ages, but my specialty is working with students with learning disabilities. Specifically, I excel in helping students who have emotional disorders, cognitive disorders, autism, Asperger's, ADHD, or ADD. I enjoy tutoring students in English, science, math, and test preparation for the GRE, SAT, ACT, PSAT, and others. When I have free time, I enjoy studying science for fun. My favorites are evolutionary biology and astronomy. I've also been an athlete, and I competed for five years as a runner and 10 years as a wrestler. I also enjoy spending time with my three children.
