RichardI earned my bachelor's degree in international studies at Dickinson College because it offered the greatest exposure to my many academic interests. I then went on to work in the private sector before returning to school to earn my graduate degree from the University of Connecticut. I have spent time studying in Italy on two different occasions which were professionally and personally transformational. It instilled within me a profound love of the Italian language, culture, and history and was the inspiration for my pursuit of a doctorate. I began tutoring students during my first year of graduate studies. I worked with individual students on history, literature, and Italian culture. I then went on to become a teaching assistant and finally teaching courses at the University of Connecticut and other nearby schools. I currently tutor students in Italian, American and European history, world history, languages, social studies, and conversational Italian. My personal studies as well as my teaching experience has taught me how important it is to make history and languages come alive for students. It wasn't until I experienced the culture and language I had studied in person that I truly understood the power of immersion. I endeavor to bring a bit of that to each of the students I tutor so they are able to more fully integrate their studies.

JustinI'm currently attending the University of Pittsburgh to receive my doctorate in special education. I also attended University of Pittsburgh for my bachelor's degree in developmental psychology and my master's degree in special education. After graduate school, I spent several years teaching in Virginia. In this position, I taught everything from fourth grade through kindergarten, and I was able to work with special education students and general education students. As a tutor, I've also had the opportunity to work with preschoolers through high school seniors to help them learn other topics. In my sessions, I help students by working from what they already know to add on new information. I fill in the gaps where necessary to ensure nothing is missed. When I have some free time, I like to hang out with my dogs, read, drink coffee, and study teaching.
