JaymeI received my undergraduate degree in Spanish and my graduate degree in teaching English as a second language from the University of Wisconsin. I have traveled a great deal throughout my academic and professional career which has helped improve my linguistic skills and allowed me to accumulate a wider range of teaching techniques to help a greater number of students. I now teach ESL and Spanish for students in grades K through 8. I offer tutoring services for similar subjects, including Spanish, ESL/ELL, English grammar and syntax, Spanish 1-4, languages, conversational Spanish, and English for high school and college level students. In addition to working with students on specific subject material, I also enjoy working with them to develop their study skills and their organizational skills so they are better prepared to succeed in any future classes. Summer tutoring has also been especially rewarding as has helping students prepare for specific exams. I am passionate about language and the power it has to transform lives. I love helping my students more fully express themselves regardless of the language they are using to do so. I take the time to get to know each of my students and their individual learning style so that I am better able to create an engaging and effective learning experience for them.

CarolynI went to the University of Wisconsin - River Falls and earned my bachelor's degree in elementary education. Since that time, I've taught for many years, leading classes in preschool, Headstart, Early Headstart, and remedial reading. I've helped many students reach that moment where they light up as they understand something for the first time, including reading. I'm still fascinated by how students develop reading skills. I believe it is the job of the teacher to find whatever way they can to inspire a child to want to learn. Every student learns differently, so I must find out how that student learns best and then take advantage of that to help them find success. When I have free time, I like to knit, read, camp, and spend time with family.

AndrewI currently work as an educator and director in New York City. As an educator, I've had the opportunity to work with a diverse range of students with different needs and learning styles. This helped me learn how to come up with creative teaching strategies designed to help them build upon their current strengths and overcome various challenges that they face in the classroom. My experience in education has given me the opportunity to work with gifted students, pupils with learning disabilities, and troubled youth. Regardless of the type of student I worked with, I found that everyone appreciates a classroom with hands-on activities and plenty of learning resources. I am of the opinion that the best way to connect with a student is to reach out to them on a personal level and get to know their interests and preferred learning styles. For this reason, I prefer to teach using the student-centered approach that puts the needs of the individual first and foremost. While I've had the experience of tutoring in a number of different subjects, I love teaching about writing the most. From helping students write persuasive essays to teaching them how to sharpen their poetry and creative writing skills, I enjoy teaching about all aspects of writing.
