LilianSince the most influential teachers in my life were the ones who encouraged me on an individual level and took a personal interest in my studies, that is how I also choose to work with students during my tutoring sessions. My goals are to provide the best quality of tutoring that I can and to develop a personal connection to the student. I believe that this style of teaching helps to create a motivating learning environment and enhances the ability of the student to think critically, which is key for a student to be able to progress from a great student to an exceptional student. I provide the student with a base foundation of knowledge that can be built upon through critical thinking skills. I strive to create a learning environment that builds confidence and encourages learning. I am firm in my teaching, but also strive to be a part of the student's learning support system. I have a variety of different teaching experiences, including working as a dance teacher, choreographer, and working as a tutor to my fellow classmates in high school. I find enjoyment in working with students of any age, and my diverse background has given me the ability to adjust my teaching to new students.

ConnorI love to learn, and I love to teach; this is my inspiration to becoming a tutor and teacher. I derive a lot of enjoyment from helping students understand the concept and seeing the pride they feel when they achieve success. My background is in theater and acting, and I have a unique perspective from outside of the classroom on history and literature as a result. I utilize the same kind of nontraditional approaches in my lessons to help students stay engaged and understand material. I can tutor reading, writing, essays, literature, English grammar, history, geography, public speaking, religions, and test preparation for the ACT and other standardized admissions and assessment exams. When I have some time, I enjoy movies, the theater, sports, literature, and music.

CarolynI went to Ohio State University to earn my bachelor's degree in Korean. After I graduated, I worked for a professional golfer in their non-profit organization. In that role, I had the chance to provide support to aspiring golfers around the country and in South Korea. Later, I worked as a legal secretary for Ohio State University, and I was inspired to return to school to study child psychology. I can tutor students in a number of different areas, but my specialty is Korean language and culture. I love to help others learn about my heritage as much as I enjoy learning about cultures myself. I'm a very patient person, and I will try different approaches to see what works for each student. I assess my students to see what they know and where they need help, and then I set to work to make sure they have the core understanding of the subject at hand. Once this is accomplished, I work with a student to help them understand how to apply their knowledge to learn more independently. I consistently assess students along the way, providing guidance wherever needed. In my free time, I enjoy reading, playing the piano, singing, listening to music, and volunteering with my church.
