YovanaI've taught for over 20 years, and absolutely love it. I find it rewarding to see my students develop an interest in the subjects I'm teaching, and I feel successful when students maintain that interest into the future. When I work with students, I identify where they are at with the subject so that I can start building from there to improve their skills. I'm looking forward to tutoring students in French, drawing on my long experience with the language and my time living and studying in France.

JylI obtained my bachelor's degree in Journalism from Michigan State University. I also have my teaching certificate in elementary education and high school English and social sciences. I have had more than 15 years of experience in an educator's role, including a variety of positions and students. I taught science in a unique way in California. I used truly hands-on activities, including kayaking, hiking, and snorkeling. I've also had the opportunity to guide a group of high school students to Africa and Central America, where I also tutored them in anthropology, history, sociology, and writing. I've also spent time as a classroom teacher, including teaching middle school age children history and English, and then moving on to Lisbon, Portugal, where I taught a diverse group of students from all over the world. I am a very enthusiastic and dedicated tutor, and because I've had so much experience, I have developed skills that have really enhanced my ability to effectively and efficiently tutor students. For one, I keep an open mind when meeting new students, because it's important that I get to know their particular interests, strengths, and challenges. Because students learn in different ways, I discover this information before creating individualized learning plans for each student.

AlecI'm currently attending the University of Michigan for my bachelor's degree in chemical engineering. My tutoring experience includes working with siblings and peers to explain concepts they did not understand in class in ways that were easier for them to understand. I'm laid-back and very patient, and I enjoy presenting material in interesting ways that engage students and motivate them to learn. I'm excited to tutor subjects like algebra, calculus, business, geometry, pre-calculus, chemical engineering, biology, chemistry, reading, writing, essays, economics, study skills, and test preparation for the ACT, SAT, PSAT, and more. When I have free time, I like to sail, scuba dive, travel, read, and do the crossword puzzle in the Wall Street Journal.
