GrantI have seven years of tutoring experience, and during that time I've had the opportunity to work with students from the elementary school level through high school level. I'm determined to help my students learn the subjects I tutor and realize their full academic potential. I can help students with algebra, geometry, business, pre-calculus, economics, Spanish, managerial accounting, middle school math subjects, and test preparation for the ACT and other exams. In my free time, I like to surf, travel, read historical fiction novels, and study finance.

CalieI base my own philosophy regarding education on what John Dewey, philosopher, said in his book Democracy and Education, specifically that a good education equals growth, and that growth is not necessarily a means to an end, but continues to feed upon itself. The more education a person receives, the more curious they are about the world, and the more they will want to learn. Based on this, and my life experiences and my own education, I have become devoted to providing educational opportunities for students, which is why I enjoy working as a tutor. I also agree with many leaders that citizens must have a good education in order to run a good democracy. I enjoy tutoring students in a number of subjects, such as writing, literature, basic grammar, history, social studies, and basically all things in language arts and the humanities. At the same time as I study the content and necessary knowledge of the school subject with my students, I also work to equip them for their life beyond academia, with an eye towards them becoming good citizens who can communicate their ideas respectfully and clearly. In my free time, I enjoy reading, traveling, and learning new languages.

BrandonI studied for a computer and electrical engineering degree at Lipscomb University. As a college student, I helped other students understand calculus, physics, chemistry, algebra, and other STEM courses. I love teaching students in physics and math, because I believe that these disciplines form the foundation for engineering. I like to help students develop problem-solving skills. I enjoy helping students overcome obstacles they have in understanding concepts that are new and difficult, and so as a tutor, I put in the effort and time it takes to make it sessions effective. I'm now studying for an electrical engineering doctorate from Vanderbilt. I can teach high school and college level math and science, as well as computer science topics. In my free time I like to garden, play the piano, and study robotics and technology.
