MatthewI graduated from Smyrna High School in May 2013 as Valedictorian. Much of my success can be attributed to my teachers at that school. I became a National Merit Finalist while in school and won a full scholarship to Lipscomb University, where I am studying mechanical engineering with a 3.85 GPA. I aim to use what I learn to provide third world countries with the necessities they need. I enjoy tutoring students who want to achieve their goals and become self-sufficient. Learning is invaluable to our future, both academically and professionally. I can tutor students of all ages in a variety of high school and college level subjects, particularly math and science areas. I believe that tutoring requires an instructor willing to push their students to think for themselves. Along with basic math and science courses, I tutor students in differential equations, physics, calculus, and multivariable calculus. I can tutor in essay editing, writing, and English as well. I encourage my students to develop a passion for learning, working hard to ensure that they can become confident and successful. Outside of tutoring, I enjoy working on my car, going fishing, and taking nature photographs. Getting outdoors prevents me from going stir crazy.

MarvaraI'm pursuing a degree in biological sciences on the premed track at the University of Tennessee. I've experience tutoring Science Olympiad students, and I've developed the ability to understand the student's perspective, which helps me present material to them effectively. I present concepts using different teaching methodologies to match different learning styles, and I also anticipate questions that may come up based on the material that we discuss. My overall goal is to help students fully comprehend a subject. I can tutor algebra, calculus, geometry, elementary math, trigonometry, biology, chemistry, pre-calculus, physiology, finite math, life sciences, pharmacology, discrete math, anatomy, and test preparation. In my free time, I enjoy hiking, playing tennis and ultimate Frisbee, painting, reading, and cooking.

DeborahI'm a tutor based in Nashville, Tennessee, where I enjoy spending time writing, singing, and spending time with friends outside of the classroom. I consider myself to be a lifelong learner, which is partially why I was drawn towards being a tutor. I have great communication and problem solving skills, which I use to help each student grasp the material to the best of their abilities. I believe that learning should be fun, and I try to incorporate that sense of joy in my tutoring plans. In college, I worked as a tutor for four years. Additionally, I've worked with children in various capacities through my church, where I teach Sunday School. I consider myself to be skilled at keeping students on track and keeping them focused on making the best use of their time. More than anything, though, I deeply care for each of the students that I work with. I'm reliable, friendly, and patient with each of my students. This allows me to truly individualize each child's lesson plan, which allows the kids to get the most out of each of our tutoring sessions. I believe in celebrating signs of progress along the way, but holding students accountable to their learning plans. I hope that I can use the skills I've developed throughout my life to help you excel in the classroom and beyond it.
