SaraI went to the College of William and Mary during my degree in East Asian studies. After college, I earned a Fulbright English Teaching Assistantship and headed to South Korea. I intended to stay for one year in South Korea and then move on to another country for a year. I ended up loving the Korean middle school. I had a wonderful time with the students there teaching ESL, so I stayed for the second year of my grant. I then spent another year at a kindergarten in South Korea teaching cooking, ESL and yoga. This experience made me be a better teacher, helped me learn how to adapt to the unique differences and learning styles each student has, and solidified in my mind the benefits of lifelong learning. As a tutor, I want to share my experiences and my skills to help others achieve success. I can tutor students in writing, reading, college English, ESL, public speaking, literature, Japanese, and test preparation for the GRE and other exams. When I have some free time, I like to play ultimate Frisbee, read comics, and travel.

NikolasI earned my undergraduate degree from Ohio State University in exercise science education. While there I was the defensive back for our football team. This put me in the unique position to tutor fellow teammates which gave me valuable insight into the discipline of teaching. I am currently pursuing a degree in medicine while working as a personal trainer and tutor. I am available to tutor a wide variety of subjects, but I am most passionate about the field of science. Some of the courses I tutor include algebra 1 & 2, physics, geometry, elementary math, biochemistry, biological and biochemical foundations of living systems, middle school math, cell and molecular biology, chemical and physical foundations of biological systems, pre-calculus, foundations of behavior, statistics, critical analysis and reasoning skills, trigonometry, anatomy, English, biology, organic chemistry, exercise and health science, physiology, nutrition, elementary algebra, sociology, psychology, and general chemistry. I also work with AP and IB students in similar fields of study and I enjoy helping students prepare for standardized exams such as the SAT, MCAT, ACT, and GRE. My ultimate goal as a tutor is to help my students achieve their academic goals but also their personal goals through a focus on subject material and additional resources and techniques for independent study and time management.

AndreaI graduated from Ohio State University in 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts in Romance Studies and a minor in linguistics. While pursuing my college degree, I also worked as a Spanish tutor on a one-on-one basis and helped two pre-teen children gain a better understanding of the language. My experience as a tutor has taught me the importance of creating personalized lessons and building rapport with students. After getting to know my students' personalities, strengths, weaknesses, and interests, I've been able to come up with lessons that are more engaging and effective. Also, as a lover of languages, I love teaching students how to communicate more effectively. Along with Spanish and English, I am also able to tutor anyone interested in improving their understanding of French, German, Italian, and Latin. I believe that the best way to get students to master a new language is not by giving them the answers, but rather helping them learn how to work through their challenges and discover the solution on their own. When I'm not studying languages, I like to spend my time watching TV shows, writing, and traveling abroad. Along with spending a semester abroad in Rome, I've also had the pleasure of visiting seven European countries.
