I've taught for 14 years, and I'm certified as an elementary and middle school teacher. As a tutor, my specialties are math and English language arts. I recently decided to leave the classroom for some personal interests and to have time to tutor students individually. I enjoy helping students by making connections between concepts they understand and those that are new. I also feel rewarded when my students make progress in each session. I enjoy connecting with students, and that was often difficult in the classroom. I'm excited to collaborate with students and help them succeed. In my free time, I enjoy fitness activities such as Zumba.Education

I am currently pursuing an undergraduate degree from Columbus State University in molecular genetics. I began my tutoring career while I was still in high school. My mother was a special education teacher and I had the opportunity to work with students in her school that were struggling with their coursework. This laid the foundation for my interest in working with students. I know from personal experience just how challenging education can be. I struggled for many years with my own education and it is important to me to offer support and inspiration to those students who are struggling so they have the opportunity to achieve their academic potential. Geometry is my favorite subject to tutor, however, I offer tutoring services for a wide array of coursework, including algebra 1 & 2, writing, reading, elementary math, trigonometry, chemistry, German 1 & 2, physics, pre-algebra, science, American literature, anatomy & physiology, British literature, and essay editing. I work with students in elementary, middle, and high school as well as college. My philosophy as a teacher is that the best way to learn is to do something yourself. I work with each student individually to increase their confidence in approaching problems on their own. My ultimate goal is to develop a student's confidence to the point that they look at difficult or unfamiliar subject material as an interesting challenge rather than an obstacle.Education

I studied history for my master's degree, focusing on US history. I'm currently pursuing licensure to teach social studies at the high school and middle school levels. I believe history is a about a lot more than names and dates. Context is the key, and students need to understand why everything we study is important. I love history, and want my students to love it as well. I believe all social studies disciplines are crucial for students to understand to be successful in today's society. In my free time, I cheer for Ohio State, travel, and hike.Education
