I've been teaching for eight years. Currently I teach fourth graders, but I also have experience teaching social studies to sixth-graders. I moved to Ohio a couple of years ago, and since history is one of my interests, I'm finding this to be a great place for that. I've enjoyed visiting the many historic sites and museums in the area. As a tutor, it's my belief that every child is capable of learning. It's up to me as the tutor to identify how a student learns best and then teach to that. I utilize the four learning modalities to help students identify their own optimal learning style. I can tutor in history, English, geography, reading, social studies, study skills, special education, and writing.Education

I love to teach students writing skills and literature. I went to Valparaiso University, where I earned a bachelor's degree in English. I also spent time at the University of Chicago. I have seven years of experience as an English teacher at the high school level. During that time, I taught English and composition, so I have experience helping students learn grammar, writing, literature, listening skills, and speaking skills. I created my own assignments for my students, and I assisted students individually and in groups. I love literature, and I can discuss the finer points of Shakespeare and Harper Lee with anyone. In my free time, I enjoy reading, volunteering, and attending concerts.Education

I have a BS in math from Northeastern State University, and have been teaching math at the high school level for the past 10 years. It's a joy to help students learn new things. When I teach math, I like to make it fun and relate it to things that you enjoy. I like to break down complex topics and help lead you through the steps to understand the concept and find the answer. I like it when students ask questions, because it gives me insight into how they look at a problem, and I can use this to help explain it to the student in a way they can understand. For this reason, I encourage communication and questions. In my free time, I enjoy football, basketball, volunteering, and classic video games.Education
