KatelynI graduated from the University of South Florida with a bachelor's degree in industrial engineering. I am currently in the process of applying to graduate programs so that I can receive a master's in engineering management. As a child of an elementary teacher, I've seen firsthand the power that education and exceptional teaching skills can have on a student's life. I've always felt like teaching was a calling of mine, which is why I worked as a tutor for more than a decade. As an educator, I've helped a variety of students improve their understanding of history, science, English, and a number of other subjects, but it's math that I'm truly passionate about teaching. As an engineer, I work with math on a day-to-day basis and know just how important it is to have a good understanding of mathematical concepts. Additionally, working in a field that relies heavily on math has helped me learn how to teach math in a way that students can relate to, so that they're able to use their skills outside the classroom. I believe that everyone learns differently, and the most effective way to teach someone is to find out their strengths and weaknesses and design lessons based on that. When I'm not tutoring, I like to read, play sports, and practice playing my guitar.

CarrieI graduated from Northern Kentucky University with a Bachelor of Science in Education, where I focused on elementary and special education. Afterwards, I attended graduate school at the University of South Florida and received my master's degree in teaching. I've had the privilege of being a certified teacher for more than 15 years, where I've worked to help even the most challenging student become a top academic performer. My experience has taught me that there's no such thing as a bad pupil, but rather individuals who aren't being engaged in a way that works best with their learning style. Along with holding classroom lessons, I've also had one-on-one sessions where I've been able to work directly with students and come up with learning strategies that help them build upon their strengths and overcome their weaknesses. For me, the best part of being a teacher is knowing that you've got the power to make a difference in someone's life by helping them understand their true potential. I also believe that the best way to connect with your students is to find ways to teach material that they can relate to. When people start to see how education can help them in the real world, they tend to work harder to achieve greater things.
